Rayman's Birthday Surprise

  The first of September, the ending of Summer and the beginning of Autumn but it was also a date of someone's birthday which of course was Rayman, the Hero of the Crossroad of Dreams. It has been around 22 years or 122 years to be precised since Betilla the Fairy Nymph created him to save the world and each year of that celebration gets over the top which why this year to was decided to tone it down a bit so much for his disappointment.

It was after daybreak in the Snoring Tree where the named thingamajig and his band of merry wonders were residing on the log branches of the tree called the Resting Branches, snoring away well apart from the birthday boy himself who had woken himself up recently from being so excited for his one day of the year. He looks around expecting to see his friends Globox and Barbara there but they were no where to be seen.
"Wait where are they go, they were here last night."

Remembering he had somewhere to go, he gets up and runs inside the Chamber of the Bubble Dreamer only for him to be halted by;

"Good Morning Rayman, I see you're awake early than usual which is rather rare." an mighty but elderly voice coming from the ancient deity himself Polokus who was above in mid-air meditating.

Rayman looked up at him and chuckles bashfully at the statement. "Yeah, I guess but I can't help it, it's my birthday after all who doesn't get excited for their birthday?" he yawns and stretches a bit. "Have you seen Globox and Barbara recently?"

"Not that I'm aware of, I'm afraid." Polokus lies chuckling before going back on what he's doing which was meditating. "I take it you have somewhere to attend?"

"Yeah I do, I guess I'll look for the others once I see Kris."

"Oh and Happy Birthday Rayman."
The limbless blonde beamed at the god's wish before running off to his destination "Thanks Polokus."

While on his way the memory of yesterday started to play in his head;
"I can't wait for my birthday. It's gonna be great!" Rayman cheered grinning like excited child to his girlfriend; Krista sitting next to him
on the large mushroom watching the lums in the colours of red and violet flocking around in the rosy sky above.

"Although they're not gonna overdo it like last year." she replied still looking above, "I remembered how we had to clear up the day after because we made too much mess from the insane party so I guess we'll have to take it easy so that won't happen again." Bursting the blonde's hopeful bubble unintentionally.

Rayman couldn't help but sigh and look down at the grass below in disappointment. "Yeah, I know. I'm gonna miss those kind of parties."

Krista looks at him and notices how downhearted he is but she couldn't help but smile once something came to mind.
"Hey.. I think I know what can make you feel better about tomorrow." she says placing her right hand on his left shoulder.

He puts his head and and turns at her direction asking. "What is it?"

"Come at my place first thing in the morning."

"Wait, why?"

She places her left index finger on her lips giggling as she winks at him mischievously. "I can't tell you or otherwise it would ruin the fun."

Upon arriving there which was at the end of the Snoring Tree where a house belonging to another friend had the door open in a literal manner for him to enter.
Rayman couldn't help but look confused by this, "That's weird.. Usually Kris would keep the door shut but I guess she knew I was coming first thing in the morning." he thought.

Rayman shrugged and walked right into the house before closing the door just in case any unwanted invaders comes in only to be greeted with an eerie silence.

"Hey Kris, Davis? I'm here now, hello?" he calls out to counter the silence only to have no response. "Maybe they're asleep? I better see if if she is or she'll never know I'm here." he suggested in his mind but the thought of him heading to the stairs at the end was stopped by a rather sick sweetening aroma smacking his nose silly. Rayman couldn't help but snap out into reality and follow it to it's source like any person would.

That source would be coming from the solid oak table at the left with a kitchen section and above that table laid a plate of three chocolate coloured pancakes stacked on top like a tower and coated with golden syrup that was camouflaged into the pancakes with a sliced strawberry on top.

Seeing this dish made Rayman's mouth water a bit and his stomach rumble when he steps forward to the table for further investigation but somehow from the looks on the faint steam coming each side of the stack of pancakes, they were recently made. "I guess they must be awake then but where can they be?" he look around the front room only to have his navy eyes to be caught by a large strange looking cake, it was pretty towering like the pancakes but the colours where more paler and the middle section was wrapped in a purple bow but there was no sign of glimmering icing on the top.

Curiosity took over the blonde as he walked towards the artificial cake suspiciously, he never really seen a cake that size let alone not tasty looking something wasn't really right here-

"SURPRISE MOTHER-DUCKER!" Erupted a female voice with the top section of the cake popped off with light blue flames booming off scaring the living lums out of Rayman making him scream femininely and falling backwards on his behind from the sudden wave of unintentional fright.
"Happy Birthday Bunny boy~!" The source of the voice says laughing with amusement, none other than Krista who was standing up from the cake, she couldn't help but fill the room with gratification and glee from her boyfriends's reaction.

Rayman stood up and scowled at her with embarrassment, the entire Glade could have heard his screaming which he wouldn't live down if it did. "Krista how was that funny, our friends could have heard me from here and-!" he stopped his complaining and starts to stare at what the female was wearing which is purple dress with a red hood which mirrored his outfit and a feature, a headband to be more specific which was shaped like his hair to it along with the white circle in the centre of the outfit.

"Wait, why are you dressed up like me? I mean, sure I'm awesome but I didn't expect you to be my secret fan?" he smirked as Krista scoffed at this as she leans forward still smiling at her little prank.

"Pffft- nahh. I saw how upset you were yesterday so I wanted to cheer you up with this besides just because it's your birthday doesn't mean I'm wearing this all day. I already look silly in it."

"No you don't. In fact I would't mind you wearing that for me a little longer." He leaned in to nuzzle his nose against hers grinning.
She points at the pancakes giggling as she pulls away. "Go on Birthday Bunny, better start eating before they start getting cold, don't want them to go to waste."

"Don't need to tell me twice, Kris." Rayman chuckled before heading over to the table licking and smacking his lips at the sight of the delicious treat standing on the table before him as he sits down on the chair next to the table, grabs the fork and knife and starts to dig in to his breakfast.

Meanwhile he was doing that, Krista climbed off the artificial cake to head towards the kettle to prepare the beverages for the both of them. "Did you make this because this is great!" Rayman muffles as his mouth with stuff with the first half the the top pancake.

"Yeah pretty much, Betilla gave me the recipe for it since they're your favourite after all." She replies smiling at the compliment she was given for her cooking, it's not everyday she does cooking but she felt glad the pancakes didn't turn out bad.

"I'm surprised you didn't burn them, seeing how quick you tend to burn things" he says jokingly causing his girlfriend to stick her tongue at him in retaliation for his remark as he chuckles at this.

"So where's Davis? Did he take off somewhere?" he asked looking at her after gulping down the last piece of the first pancake before chomping down the second.

"He's at Betilla's helping her out with some amends, I'm not sure what though." she says while pouring hot water into the mugs, "Tea or Coffee?"

"I'll have coffee, thanks. Anyway have you seen Globox and Barbara? They're not at the Resting Branches."

"I don't know to be honest, do me to help you look for them?" Krista asked as she sets the mugs down and sits next to the birthday man.

Finishing off the rest of his sweet breakfast and starts to gulp down his recently made drink "Sure, but right now I wanna stay here for a bit but I'll look for them later." Rayman says placing a kiss on the girl's nose. "Anymore surprises you've got for me?"

"Well I do but that's for later."
