Lola's POV

As I get to school, I walk to the cafeteria thinking about what happened the day before. I get in line to grab my food. I get my food and find a seat by my friends.

"Hey Lola!" Collin yells.

"Hey Collin, how are you today?" I replied.

"I'm good, what's up?"

"Nothing..."

"What's wrong?"

"I don't want to talk about it."

"Ok."

And that was the end of our conversation. I wanted to have a longer conversation with him but I couldn't. I started thinking of what I could've said to change what happened the day before, but I couldn't.
Just then, the nice lunch ladies had us line up and say the pledge.

"I pledge allegiance, to the flag, of the United States of America. And to the republic, for which it stands. One Nation, under God, individual. For liberty and Justice for all."

Then the bell rang for all of us to go to class.

As I get to class, I walk up to the teacher. Before I get to her, a boy about my age walks in the room with his mom. He looked a little cute.(yes, I just called a boy that I hadn't even met yet cute.) He has blue eyes and short blonde hair. He was wearing a red cardinal shirt, blue jeans, and tennis shoes. His mom who was still standing by him asked if he wanted to go make new friends. He said no.

"Go on and make some new friends Stephan. I'll be back to pick you up."said his mom

"Do I have to mom?" Asked Stephan.

"Yes you do."

"Ok fine."

The teacher saw me looking at him and asked me if I wanted to go talk to him. I said no.

"Why not?"

"I'm scared."

"What are you scared of?"she asked

I didn't reply. I didn't want to. She looked at her watch and told everyone to sit down. I sat down towards the middle of the room. The new kid, Stephan sat to my right and a kid named Donald sat on my left. The teacher stood in the middle of the room and clapped her hands loudly to get our attention. She told everyone her name. Her name was Mrs. Thompson. She's really nice. Just then I was called to go down to the guidance counselors office. The guidance counselor's office was filled with posters about speech and guidance.

As I walk down to her office two other kids who were called down with me tried to start up a conversation. I felt a little bad that I didn't want to talk to them but oh well. They'll survive without talking to me. They walked into the office before me and I shyly sat in the seat closest by the door.

"Hello, how are you guys today?" she asked.

"Good," replied Stephan

"Great," replied Bailey

"I'm good," I lied.

"That's fantastic. My name is Mrs. Arnold and don't be afraid to talk to me about anything." Mrs. Arnold said.

After the session Mrs. Arnold dismissed us but before I could leave she asked me to stay behind.

"Lola, you look scared and upset, are you ok?"

"Yeah." I said

"Ok, I believe you. Now, let's get you too class. If you need anything let me know and I mean it."

"Ok Mrs. Arnold." I replied.

On the way back to class, I had an terrible feeling about something but I couldn't put my finger on it.
