Chapter 2

I woke up this morning with a smile on my face and it scared me. Growing up like I did smiles were rare because the good moments in life were just the same. But I can't deny that it felt amazing to feel at ease even if its just for a moment.
My phone was buzzing on the side table. Ignoring it, I took a look around my room.
It was plain although that wasn't my choice. It must stand plain since I don't own it. Unfortunately my tiny two bedroom apartment wasn't technically mine. The landlord is a bit of a psycho. You can't hang anything on the walls, no painting the walls different colors, no changing the way the living room was set up, nor the bedrooms. The only thing you got to do is have your clothes in the drawers or hanging in the closet, your own color of blankets, and you could place pictures in frames and set them on the desk or some other type of furniture.
Outside of the two pictures of me and my best friend, and my Fairy Tail comforter everything else was very plain. I had a long dresser in front of my bed with a 36' TV on it. Diagonally to the right of my bed is a little desk that seats right by tge dresser. On the opposite side is the door that leds into the hallways. To my left is the closet and a pack n play.
I stretch up and slowly climb out of my bed. As quick as a sloth I remake my bed. I check the time on my phone. 8:21 a.m. Not bad for not having an alarm set I thought as I grab my bathroom bag. Walking out of my room, I take second door down from mine, aka the bathroom. Its just like anyone else bathroom. A toilet, sink, bath/shower and mirror. I toss my bag down and step back into the hallway to get a towel in the side closet. After grabbing on, I set my shampoo, conditioner, body wash and scrubbers on the side of the tub and strip.
After washing my body and hair, I turn off the water. Thankfully I didn't need to shave this morning since I did it yesterday. Quickly I dried off and then put lotion on. Once done, I wrap my robe around myself and pack up my bag back up before open the bathroom door and heading to my bedroom.
Lucky I was able to pick out an outfit in just a few minutes. I chose something simple and yet still me.

The light pink sweater was comfortable for the breezy fall weather that was setting over the Ashtabula County. My plaid black skirt had just enough length that it help keep me cool but not to cool. I then slip on my stylish yet comfy black boots.

I then throw my hair up into a elegant bun and put my makeup on lightly. I wanted to look professional yet still like myself.
"Shelbs! You ready?" My best friend and roommate Maria yells at me.
"Yes give me a minute," rushing I snatch my purse off the back of my desk chair and headed into the living room.
Toys were all over the place and so were baby clothes. On the coffee table sat a box of diapers and wipes. In the corner there was a high chair. The living room looked like something out of a Moms magazine. But I'm not complaining.
"Finally let's go before we both get fired," Maria was standing by the door holding it open while waiting on me.
Maria was a Goddess. No joke. Soft red hair that tumbled down around her face while her light green eyes stared through the slight opening between her hair. She stood at 5'4 and always wore 4' inch heels. Her outfit today was a light blue blouse and a long pencil skirt along with her favorite black heels. Unlike me her make up was cake on her face, but not in an ugly way. More like a very elegant yet overdramatic way. Long lashes, bright red lipstick, dark eye shadow and the winged eyeliner.
I can't lie. She has always been the beautiful one between us. Guys always notice her and not me. At times it use to bother me. But I got over it quickly when I learned how many guys have touched her in ways that I wouldn't have felt comfortable with.

"So Shelbs, you know today is a big day for me right?" Maria said as we were five minutes away from the office.
"Yeah, I heard that some higher ups are coming here to this messed up town," I said as she parked the car and we both hopped out.
It was true though. This town, Ashtabula, Ohio, it was messed up. There were good neighborhoods no doubt. But then there were a lot of bad ones. And people up here aren't easy to get along with. Everyone up here thinks whatever they think is right no ifs, ands or buts about it. I can easily count multiple times where I've been scared out of my mind. Someone almost running me over when I'm walking on the sidewalk, a car creeping close to me as I'm walking from my car to my apartment, etc.
"Oh shut up. You always think of the negative. Maybe one of those higher ups will meet you and you fall in love and it would be happily ever after fairy tail," She said while sighing and going off into her own world.
As for me, I was holding open the door for us to go into the office. And once I started talking I stopped paying attention to where I was walking.
"Maria you know I don't believe in that stuff. Fairy tales don't happen in real life. Plus even if they did no one would ever want me-" my last word was slightly screamed as I ran into a brick wall and began to fall.
I didn't hit the ground. I didn't feel any pain outside of my head throbbing from mostly head butting whatever I did.
Slowly I opened my eyes and I knew I'm that moment I died of embarrassment.
I was in the arms of a guy I never meet before. And because my best friend Is the office cookie jar that means I know everyone. Which in return tells me he is one of the higher ups. Ah stuff and fluff!

So... How was chapter two?
Who is the guy?
Does he matter in the store?
Or maybe he doesn't?
I guess time will tell.
Don't forget to vote, comment and share.
I want to know what you all think. Don't be afraid of telling me what you think.
Bye bye
Shelbs.
