It was Jesy, lying on the cold ground with some blood spattered around her and on her top. Her nose was bleeding too. She looked so vulnerable lying there; it was reminding me of someone who in the same position as her, but my mind was fazed so I can’t remember.
Jesy kept coughing, her eyes were shut. I quickly went beside her helping her to get up. “You okay? What happened?!” I cried. “I am peachy as ever, Stacy. What about you, how’s life?”, she replied with each word dripping with sarcasm. Her habits will never die.
I rolled my eyes, “You find this funny?”
“Of course not, dammit!”” she said, coughing.”Can’t you see I’m bleeding and here you are asking me if I’m ‘okay’?” she cried out. With coughing and cussing from Jesy, I finally got her up gripping her arm tightly around me. I led her to my car. She stopped dead on her midway, “Whoa, whoa, you are not driving me. Take me to my own car” she said tugging my arm.
I glared at her, “Are you out of your mind? You’re nose is bleeding and you are coughing a lot. You need a doctor. You’re in no good driving at this state” I argued. She started squirming to get released from my grip. I sighed, “Jesy, please just let me help you”, I pleaded looking at her. She stopped struggling and looked at me with a frown.
“Fine” she muttered turning her frown into a scowl. Relief washed over me.
“Let’s go” I said finally, my lips pressing together in a straight line. I soon led her inside my car and we went straight to a nearby hospital.

After what seems like forever, Jesy came out with a bandage on her nose and one on her right arm. She was limping her way to me. I frowned. Who would do such a thing? Anger boiled in me. Whoever did this needs to pay. Nobody messes with MY friends.
“You feel better?” I asked. I feels like all day I’m questioning but I don’t get no answers in return.
“Yea” she said with the same emotionless face she gave before. “Forget about everything happened, Stacy. Don’t tell anybody about this. I mean it” she said firmly and started walking away. I stood just the same for a few seconds.
I need answers now, my inner thought reminded me. She won’t get away with it this time..
I ran after her. “Jesy, stop avoiding this. I will help you. Whatever is happening, tell me. It’s never too late” I demanded pacing with her.
She laughed with no humor whatsoever. It was terrifying, “you can’t help me, what’s happening can’t be solved” she said, her voice strained.
“How can you be so sure? Jesy, someone beat you up. Don’t you think you should complain to the police-“
“No!” she cried out stopping. I stopped with her wide eyed.
“Don’t do that. Don’t you dare say anything to the police” she said looking at me. “Please don’t, Stacy. Please”, Jesy begged with sorrow in her eyes.
With a scowl, I replied, “I won’t”
She sighed, heavily. “Thank you, it’s better if you don’t know, just let it go”. Jesy was about to exit the hospital but I stopped her with my sentence.
“You should stop shutting people out of your life, it won’t lead you anywhere” I stated.
She turned to look at me, “I know”. Jesy left the building without a second glace.
I confirmed her that I won’t tell anyone, but that won’t stop me from figuring out what’s wrong with her. I don’t think she’ll tell me, that’s for sure. I have to investigate it by myself I guess.
