Rachel's Pov

I pretend that I loaded the gun and made a loud crack sound, then pointed it straight at him. His face; he's so cute. How old is he? Ugh! What am I thinking?! He's a trespasser! I should just ask him IMPORTANT questions. Maybe he knows where my family is? I returned to my pace and stared at him from head to toe. 'Well, I don't see any bites. I guess he's good to go.' I thought as I examined his body, but I guess I was wrong. I glanced at his left arm and saw it bleeding.

"What happened to that?" I asked the boy as I gestured to his arm. His eyes glanced at it and back to me. "I fell." He said it with a straight face and a serious tone. 'What's his problem?' I placed my gun at a table nearby and went to search for some bandages. "Make yourself at home." I said. I found a first aid kit inside a wooden cabinet and took out some water, alcohol, cottons and a bandage. I went back at the door and saw him leaning against the wall beside the counter.

I went over to him and asked for his arm. "It's okay, it'll heal by itself." He said while looking away. "Seriously? You're going to act like that?" I argued. "Let me clean it up." I said with a hint of seriousness. He gave out a small sigh and gave me his arm. The blood was almost dried. It was also dripping. 'How far did he fell?' I thought, as I was about to ask it, but then he interrupted me. "What's your name?" I looked at him and showed him a small smile.

"It's Rachel."

Carl's Pov

"Rachel?!" I was shocked to hear that name. 'It's her! It's really her!' I yelled inside me as I winced at the medicine she was putting on me. "Yup. Rachel Faye Hunter, at your service." She joked. I can't believe I really found her. Dad would be so proud! But how are we going out of here? I looked over to each sides of the place.

Then I glanced down at Rachel, who looked so innocent, so pure and so beautiful even with those stains on her. I still can't believe I found her. . . The girl who. . Wait a min. I shook my head and realized I was daydreaming. I'm here to rescue her, nothing more. "Is there something on my face?" She said. I returned my face to her and saw that she was looking back at me.

"N-No." I looked away immediately and hid the blush that was forming. 'God! Be a man Carl.' I thought, and then I heard her chuckled and she finished cleaning the wound. "There, all done!" She exclaimed and smiled at me. "Cool, thanks!" I smiled back. She took the aid kit and returned to the room where she got them. I examined the place one more time and thought of a good way to get out of here.

"So, how'd you get here?" She said coming back with some chips and drinks. She sat down in front of me and gave me some snacks. "Thanks. Actually, I'm here to rescue you. You see, your brother and-" "You know my brother?!" She asked while slightly jumped near me. I just nodded and kept my pace. "My dad's friends saw him with your sister inside a store. We recruited them and he told us about you." I finished and took a sip at the fresh soda. She leaned back against the wall and sighed lightly. "They're alive. Thank goodness." She mumbled. I just chuckled and looked at her. "How'd you get separated from them?" I asked. She looked at me and smiled.

"Well, it started when we lost our mother about weeks ago."

Rachel's Pov (Flash back)

We were running. That's what we've always been doing since that day. I and my family were the only ones out there, or so I thought. We ran into an abandoned house and hid there. It's a good thing that there aren't any of those in here. It was exactly cozy. I placed my things at a table near me and walked around. "Darling, just stay close here." Mom said in her most concerned yet demanding tone. "Yeah mom, I'm just looking around to see if any of those biting idiots are in here." I replied. Good thing there aren't any, looks like we could rest the night here.
