CHAPTER 1 - AL

SARCASM AND SCHOOL WORK

Everyone in life has their own little version of happiness and hell. Whether it's being in a field of flowers or in a world with no color. Some people hate both, and wish to be in an area where they can experience both. It takes maturity to decide such a big part of your life.

Some people want happiness, others want sorrow, and some crave wisdom. And then there are those who are scared of everything. It's not fear of simple things in life, but fear of fear itself.

For example, you would never expect Al, to be one of those people because of her crazy attitude and striking sarcasm. But she is, like many other people. She doesn't like meeting people, or doing things that she never thought of even doing.

And she throws people off guard when they try to speak to her because she doesn't know them. She'll snap at them and be incredibly rude, without even realizing it, and it scares her. Al hates how she acts, and she's planning the year to be her first step into change. With a little help from her best friend Jace of course.

::::

The sounds of heavy stomping echoed through Blue Water's hall. A thick wad of gum was in Al's mouth as she walked, arm in arm with her best friend Jace, or better known as Jay. The keys in Al's shorts rattled, adding another background sound to accompany they sounds of heavy footsteps.

The two girls were late to their first class because they missed their neighborhood school bus. But they were glad they did. The bus was crowded and full of snotty kids, making it reek of sweat and having a fifty percent possibility of catching a rare disease in the disgusting bus. Al and Jace's theory was that the bus had gone through a large party in the ninety's and hasn't been cleaned since.

Al pulled open the rusty pile of junk covered in stickers, and pulled out her notebook and earphones. Jace stood behind her and peeked over Al's shoulder, staring in the black hole: also known as Al's locker. There was a rumor that someone was stuffed in her locker when the school first opened, and never came out until a custodian found the kid back in the early 2000's. Of course Al didn't believe the stupid rumor, but sometimes she did wonder why it reeked of old ham and death.

"Alright, lets go to class." Al smiled, moving her black hair to the side, and scratched her shoulder. They walked side by side to their first class together; Homeroom. Jace opened the door and smiled at their teacher Mrs. Summons, or as Jace liked to call her, 'Mrs. Summons the Devil'.

"Hey Misses, hows the family?" Jace asked, a cheesy smile etched on her face as she sat in her seat, next to Al's. The class chuckled and Al spoke up, "Dude! You can't asked someone that if they only live with their cats!" The class erupted with laughter and Mrs. Summons turned red with anger.

"Now you two listen here, I will call your parents if you don't stop this monstrosity you call funny.  Are you two listening to -" The loud bell cut her off and Al and Jace stood up.

"I'm making a new seating chart!" The old teacher called out after the two teens walking out the door. Their first period was always their favorite because it was only thirty minutes, and they were twenty minutes late. They walked across campus to their second period, History.

The two girls actually loved their second period teacher so they usually tried going earlier then the other teenagers. They had a fifteen minute nutrition break after first period, which they usually skipped for the class. Teenagers scattered around them and the two girls were smushed together, having the other kids push past them.

"So when do you think Irwin is coming back? That was a harsh suspension, don't you think?" Jace asked, looking over at Al, while playing with the hem of her black tee shirt. The taller girl shrugged and looked over at Jace.

"Eh, I don't really care about when he comes back. And if he does then good for him. Looks can't take you everywhere in life. I mean, look at Sabrina. She's hot yeah whatever, but she's flunking out of collage," Al started, looking at Jace with her lips pressed in a thin line. Jace secretly knew about how Al has small crush on Ashton, but would never acknowledge it of course.

"Yeah, but she's got it all planned out, right? She wants to be a singer. Look at all of those people who didn't even finish school but still became famous," Jace started, staring at Al in the eye. "Think about it babe. What if she became famous because of that? If Sabrina became famous the public would obviously be like 'hey look it's Sabrina's little sister, lets interview her'  and then bam! You'd become famous too! And then I'd become famous too, because I'm your best friend!" Jace laughed her loudest laugh and Al groaned.

"That will never happen. Not to you, not to me, and certainly not to Sabrina." Al huffed and rolled her eyes, but Jace just wouldn't drop the subject, "Just give it a thought, picture us as celebrities." Jace smiled at Al, who was rolling her eyes.

"Lets go day dreamer. I want to get to Ms. Sarah's already." The two girls walked arm in arm once again, to their teachers class and smiled when the saw Ms. Sarah sitting on her desk at the front of the class reading a book, and eating licorice. Al walked up to her desk and gabbed two candy's and gave on to Jace.

"Hey Alyson, hey Jace," Ms.Sara grinned and closed her book. "We're getting a new student, and he should arrive soon." The two girls grinned and sat on the desks directly across from Ms.Sara's. Al loved new students, they were fresh meat. Nothing better then that right?

Two years ago, on their second year of high school when a group of four boys first arrived, Al became fairly close to one of them. His name was Calum, the smart one. But after the boys gained their names as the 'Predators' the two teens stopped talking two each other. They were still friends on social media and all, but just never spoke to each other. Everyone liked the boys because everyone already knew who they were. The four boys were kicked out of their last high school across town.

Calum and Al have second through fifth period together, yet they still didn't talk. Al thought that the most popular one out of the group, Ashton, did it. The guy seemed like a jerk, and Al didn't like that. "Well the 'new studant' technically already goes to school here, but Principal James thought that he needed new schedule due to some past experiences, so he's in our class now." And just as she finished her sentence the loud sound of high heels came closer to the old brown metal door, and soft footsteps joined the loud noise. Ms. Sara jumped off of the desk and signaled the two there girls to do so as well.

Al and Jace ran to the back of the class, and sat in their assigned seats, just as the heavy too opened."Hello Ms. Sara, This is Ashton. Ashton Irwin, he will be joining your class now." There stood the Principle next to Ashton. The curly haired blonde wore ripped black skinny jeans and dirty black vans, along with a dark red flannel that said Predator on the back in white. He must think he's so cool. Al thought rolling her eyes, as Jace nudged her side. The two teenagers spoke quietly as the bell rang and the students came pouring in.

Calum came in with a smirk when he saw Ashton standing at the front of the class looking incredibly annoyed. Calum patted Ashton's back and sat in the seat in front of Al.

"Ashton go ahead and sit in the back next to Al. Alyson raise your hand please." Al did so, and Calum turned and started at her for a good four seconds, with a confused look on his face. He probably didn't recognize Al anymore. When Calum and Al meet, she had bright blue hair and a crazy obsession with red and black lipsticks, unlike now. She's calmed down a bit with the crazy colors, her hair is now jet black and she hardly wears any lipstick or chapstick. Al never really liked makeup, she just liked unusual lipsticks because she enjoyed the attention everyone would give her because of it.

Ashton came and sat dow next to her. "Hey, do you have a pencil, Alyson?" He grinned, and she looked over at him. "Sorry buddy. I don't have any, why don't you ask Ms. Sarah for one?" Al asked, tilting her head to the side, raising her left eyebrow.

"You know what, maybe I should. She's pretty hot, so it would be to my benefit ya know? Killing two birds with one stone. I would take her on the desk anytime." He snickered and Al grinned while she rolled her eyes sighing, "Me too dude, me too." He raised an eyebrow and smirked at the brunette that was playing with the black pencil in her hand.
