"Okay Mrs. Petrelli, start from the beginning" The officer put his hand on her shoulder. Catherine was a strong woman of 34. Her hair was golden brown, long. Her eyes of green and her skin was tan from all the times her and Nathan were out on his boat. Catherine was out of breath, out of words which was new to her. She didn't know what to say..to anyone. The news reported Nathan missing forty-eight hours after the silent search his family made looking for him.
His brother, Peter, searched all over town. Even asked some prostitutes. Which to police that was their first guess. Politician gets stressed, tired of things at home, wants a little fling here and there. No problem. Nathan was different though. He made his mistakes, had his flaws, had his powers even but Catherine made him a new man. He loved her, that's why he married her. Peter searched everywhere Nathan was last seen within the past week. Nothing. The bars hadn't seen him in years. Peter even tried Catherine's father's mansion, just in case. It was run down, in need of serious repair but it was a hideout. What Peter found, scared him.
Peter called Catherine after finding a 'suicide note' from Nathan. Catherine knew it wasn't him. Wasn't even his hand writing. Someone set him up.
"To whomever finds this, I am dead. I flew to the most northernest (clue 1), state to die. Plese (Clue 2) do not come looking for me. Love Nathan P"
"What the fuck is this? And who the fuck wrote it." It turned to ash in Catherine's hands. Peter shrugged, "I know that's not him. People just are trying to steer you clear of what is really happening."
Catherine began to cry, and Peter was right at her side, "God Peter what if he is dead."
Peter shook his head, "I don't think he would kill himself and, I don't think he is dead. I just...I have a feeling he isn't."
Claire knocked on the door, "Hey don't want to interrupt."
Catherine looked and it was Nathan's daughter and she nearly began the waterfalls of tears again.
Claire hugged her, "We will find him. Until then, do you mind if I stay with you? Things are kinda rough at home and.."
"Yeah of course." Catherine nodded.
Peter sped out of the house, to continue the hunt.
"I have to inform the media soon about his whereabouts." Catherine said walking out of the giant house. It was water damaged. The floors, ceiling everything. Vines began growing in through the windows and.every crack. It was an old Victorian style house. Catherine inherited it the day her father passed when she was 27. Then some horrible rains and flooding destroyed the home and everything in it.
Catherine was too distraught to have anything done to it.
In the car, Catherine brushed away some of Claire's blonde strands from her face.
"How's school?" She asked. Catherine had two sons of her own with Nathan. Jackson Alexander who was 16 and  Adrian Theodore who was 13. They were staying with Catherine's mother for their spring break.
"Spring Break started today." Claire said, "it's been okay just cheerleading, finding my place in the world, trying to keep up my grades and being normal."
"Do you need anything? Want anything? I am sure your father would love to have you with us. I know how things were in the past and it seemed like he had to hide you. Your father and I were not on good terms when I found out he had got another woman pregnant. I can assure you, your brothers would welcome you with open arms."
"I have brothers?" Claire asked.
"Yeah, two. Jack is 16, Adrian is 13."
"Wow, Jack and I are the same age."
"Well, he is a great kid. Just learned sailing this past year. They both can fly, Adrian is bit better at it than Jack. Jack doesn't want to use his powers and just be normal." Catherine began tearing up again as the pulled up to the Petrelli mansion.
"It's going to be okay, we will find him" Claire was so sure they would.
Catherine entered her home, their German Shepherds 'Draxx' and "Atlas" greeted them.
Catherine whispered to her servant, "Has he come home?"
He shook his head. She nodded.
"Lay down pups." Catherine commanded softly.
They did as they were told, "Wow I forgot what it's like here."
The Petrelli mansion, slightly smaller than the mansion of Catherine's late father. Still exquisite, more modern and up to current styles. Had more than enough room for Claire, Catherine's two sons, her office, Nathan's office, their master bedroom and bathroom and many more.
"The game room has been moved to downstairs to the back of the house and the pool and hot tub are at your disposal." Catherine sat down on rustic looking metal chair in the foyer.
Her hands covering her face. Her phone rang, Catherine slowly pulled it from her pocket.
"Hello?"
"Mom? You okay. We heard about what happened to dad and."
"Jack? Hi honey how are you?"
"Mom, where's dad?"
"Jackie, I don't know. Uncle Peter and I have looked all over. Your sister is here, Claire and she will be staying the week."
"Sister? We have a sister too?"
"Yeah it's a long story kiddo."
"Mom we wanna help look for dad. We want to come home."
"Not right now Jack. You can come home Friday and we will see, ok. But don't be upset if you have to stay and your grandmother will have to take you to school."
"Alright Mom. You okay?"
"Jackie, I am trying to keep it together. Really."
Claire watched Catherine on the phone. She was so honest with her children. Something she wished her adoptive parents were with her. No wonder they were so well behaved there were no secrets.
"Hey Adrian, Yes I love you too."
Claire longed for this normal life with them. Then she realized all the publicity, the stuff, the private schools, never having real conversations with Nathan. He would never be home. That special time with her birth father would be gone. She liked the secrecy a bit. She knew she always had a place here if she ever needed to come home.
Catherine got up and she sighed "They are excited to meet their sister one of these days."
