I woke up with the bright morning sun on my face. I lay there on my bed for a few moments to wake up. I groggily got up to get dressed. I normally wear a red or a brown dress to go out and I chose the red dress to go to the market today like Rosemary promised me because I am normally busy with my shop mixing grasses and plants together. I loved to heal others and save their lives. I head downstairs after I put on my only pair of shoes that are brown.
"Hey, Rosemary!"I waved at My sister as I reached the bottom of the stairs.
"What do you want Vlare?" Rosemary asked with annoyance. She was reading something that I never liked. It was a book filled with violence.
"I wanted to go out today. Please take me." I asked in a pleading voice.
"OK let's go Vlare," Rosemary said with a growing smile.
"Thanks, Rosemary," I thanked her happily smiling.
"No need to thank me your smile is thanks enough, and go wait outside for me I need to go get a few thing before we leave." She replied with a kind smile
I went outside on the porch. While waiting on Rosemary my father came onto the porch with a strange man. He was tall with long black hair. He was beautiful his eyes were a silver golden color.
"What are you doing out here Vlare?"My father asked with a raised brow.
"I'm waiting on Rosemary father. She said she would take me out today," I explained teetering on my feet in excitement.
"Well then make sure you pick some flowers for your mother before you get back. You know how she is." My father said to me casually.
"Yes. I shall father."I said with a kind smile and a soft giggle.
"Hello, father," Rosemary greeted as she got out the door wearing her favorite dress. It was a deep red with white frills on the edges of her sleeves and at the bottom.
" Hello, Rosemary. I'll see you two later." Our father sidestepped and moved his hand toward the stairs that go off the porch.
"Goodbye, father"Rosemary and I waived in unison while going down the steeps.
As we got to the market I started to look at my sister watching me with a smile. I looked at many things food, dresses, cloth, vases, antiques, plants anything you can think of really. Something caught my eyes while I was passing a stand with slaves. One slave had a mark on his/her arm. I couldn't tell if it was a male or female. it wasn't burned into his/her skin or anything it was more like a tattoo but it was very beautiful the way it wrapped around his/her arm like a vine. It was small enough not to notice if you weren't paying attention but I'm surprised I even noticed it. I looked at the slave with sorrow because no one deserved to be sold like cattle. Then I looked into the slave's eyes. I couldn't describe my shock when I saw the slaves eyes. They were sky blue the were angelic but also cold like they were dipped in ice over and over again. So many things must have happened to this singular person in so many different ways. I couldn't help but do something about it. I never would get a slave as my parents have asked me to do so before but I refused they still bug me about it but not as often as they used to. I took out my coin purse.
"Well do you like that one miss?" A gruff looking man asked looking at me.
" How much?" I asked ready to give my family's fortune. My sister looked at me like I had gone insane.
" 1 gold." The man next to the other gruff male spoke.
I raised my brows. " Really?" I asked surprised but shook my head and gave them one gold coin.
They gave me a funny look and asked."Are you su-"He tried but I had cut him off.
"Yes now hand me the rope,"I said looking at the men demandingly. They looked at each other and then gruff one took the rope and shoved it into my hand. It was short so the slave's body jerked toward me. The slave just looked at me with a blank stare.
"Now all you have to do is sign here."The other man handed me the paper. I looked at it closely and I told them.
"My name is Vlare Sin and I will take this person whether you give he/she to me or not,"I said, saying my name loudly. They suddenly took the paper away from my hands and pushed the slave closer to me.
"Sorry, miss Sin we didn't know."The gruff man said with worry.
"I will forgive you this once,"I said with the meanest glare I could muster.
"Vlare why did you do that Why are you doing this I thought you were against having slaves." My sister half whispered half yelled. While I was undoing the rope from the slave's neck.
"I couldn't live with myself if I didn't get this one," I said half to myself and half to her as I tied one end of the rope around one wrist of the slave and the other end around mine.
"Let's go home It's getting late." My sister said with understanding.
"Let's go home It's getting late." My sister said with understanding.
"So what is your name ?"I asked the slave because calling a person slave is really disturbing.
"Lar." Lar said in a cold tone.
"Ok Lar. Are you a boy or girl?"I asked still not knowing.
"Male."He said his tone going more up-beat.
"Ok Lar, you know my name but you don't know my sisters name. Her name is Rosemary and we won't hurt you. I actually wanted to help but I can't help everyone so I picked you to be a friend and a brother because I know you've been through a lot." I stated seriously.
"Ok I believe you for some odd reason."Lar stated with a surprised look.
