Carolina Baise

I woke up in a better mood than usual today. Checking the time, 9:30 AM, I went downstairs. Manny was the only one in the kitchen today.

"Sorry Karen couldn't be here to make her amazing breakfasts, she had to go to work. I hope you can tolerate mine." He laughed, while scrambling some eggs.

"Hey dad," A familiar voice said, in a very raspy tone.

"Good morning Shawn, did you say hi to Carolina?" Manny pointed towards me and lifted his eyebrow.

Shawn looked at me and smirked. He knew what he was doing and he didn't seem ashamed. "Good morning," He said.

Manny set down a plate of eggs for the two of us. "Actually, I wanted to take Carolina out for breakfast at the diner this morning." Shawn pushed his plate back.

"Okay good, I don't think you two would tolerate my food." He laughed again.

We went upstairs to change. I put on a red flannel and black jeans. Grabbing my camera again, I walked outside my room. Shawn walked out at the same time. He was wearing a grey hoodie and black jeans.

     "Ready?" He asked. I nodded.

Jumping in his jeep, I turned on the radio. This was a lot more difficult than France radios. Eventually, I got the hang of it and landed on a John Mayer song. Your body is a wonderland. Shawn started singing along.

And if you want love

We'll make it

Swim in a deep sea

Of blankets

Take all your big plans

And break 'em

This is bound to be a while

Your body is a wonderland

Your body is a wonder

Your body is a wonderland

I listened to Shawn's singing the whole ride to the diner. He sounded like an angel.

"You sound amazing," I interrupted his singing. He looked at me and gave me a real smile.

"I sing a little bit," he admitted.

"Mmm hmmm, a little bit." I rolled my eyes. Obviously he sang every second of the day with that voice. The rest of the ride was silent. I watched the rain fall onto the car as Shawn drove.

     "Here we are." He said.

We walked inside and grabbed the same booth that we sat in the last time. "I have a question for you, Mendes." I put my arms on the table and leaned slightly forward.

     "Go for it."

"What was the deal with your little shenanigan you played last night? Not that I didn't enjoy it but.." I stopped myself. He smirked once again.

"I just felt like doing it," he shrugged. It wasn't convincing.

"Mmm hmm okay. I know you have a crush on me."

"This isn't 6th grade Carolina," he rolled his eyes.

"You're right. This is 12th grade and you have a crush on me."

He rolled his eyes.

"If you say it's not a crush, then prove it." I crossed my arms.
