PROLOGUE

There were flashing lights everywhere. Blue, red, white.  Clarity drove past the accident, slamming on the breaks when she realized something. The mangled car she was looking at, in the dark, looked vaguely familiar. She turned the corner and pulled to the side of the road. Clarity got out of her car and ran to the accident. She stopped, dead in her tracks. She looked up from the ground where her eyes had drifted and saw the paramedics zipping up a black body bag and trying to revive another lifeless body. She stumbled over to the one they were trying, but failing to revive.

"M..mom?" She barely spoke the word. She knew it was her mother. And that means that must have been her father in the...bag. Clarity screamed. The paramedic jumped, realizing she was there.

"Young lady, I'm going to have to have you back up please." He said in a gentle voice.

"That's my mother! And my fath-" Clarity choked on the words. The tears streamed down her face, already making her eyes puffy.

The next thing she knew, she woke up on a cot in a strange room. She got up and finally realized where she was. The hospital. Clarity reached for the back of her head, wincing as she touched the gash on the back of her head. I must have blacked out. She thought to her self. She went to the desk that was in the unit of the hospital she was in and found her release papers already signed by the doctor.

"I'll be leaving now, is my car here?" She asked vaguely aware of what she looked like.

"Yes miss, it's parked in the first row for you, here's your keys. Drive carefully please." The nurse explained as Clarity grabbed the keys and left. She headed straight home, hoping it was all a dream, that they weren't really gone, that they would be sitting on the couch watching tv. Clarity walked into her house to find it completely empty.
