Claire rolled her eyes. If Bender really thought he could intimidate her, he was wrong. She’s strong, independent, and certainly isn’t afraid of some prick who lives for Saturday detentions. But, much to Claire’s dismay, Bender couldn’t help but cause trouble. It was the only thing he knew he could do right, even if it drove other people up the wall.
“So...so.” The Criminal pondered. He turned to face Andrew and Claire, who were suspecting another irritatingly brilliant comment from Bender. He has a talent for getting under peoples’ skin. He smiled slightly at the thought that popped into his head.
“Are you guys boyfriend and girlfriend?” He stopped, leaving a small moment of silence in between comments, to let Andrew and Claire answer the question. Much to his amusement, they never did.
“Steady dates?” He continued, leaving another agonizingly long pause in between questions to increase irritation.
“Lov-ers?” He added, dragging out the “V.” You could literally feel the tension lingering throughout the room. It was so thick, you could almost cut it with a knife. Riley didn’t dare to interrupt, even if it was to stand up for what’s right. Riley Mercer hated bullying, but she wouldn’t even think about crossing John Bender. She didn’t know what Bender had to say about her. It definitely wouldn’t be pleasant, that’s for sure.
“Come on Sporto,” Andrew’s face became an even deeper shade of red. “Level with me, do you slip her the...hot.....beef...injection?” Riley’s never seen someone so angry.
“Shut up!” “Go to hell!” “Enough.” The Princess and the Athlete screamed at the troublemaker, fed up with his smart-ass comments. Claire’s face almost turned as red as her cherry colored hair, she was that angry. The ginger whipped around quickly and shot Bender a painful glare, hoping to see right through his satisfied smirk. To her dismay, it didn’t work. Not even in the slightest.
Vernon, who quickly sensed the conflict, rolled back in his wheeling office chair to gain a better view. “Hey! What’s going on in there.” The delinquents gave no reply. Vernon rolled his eyes and smugly rolled forward. “Little pricks.”
Back in the library everyone turned to face each other, even Riley took her nose out from under her book to face the others. The Athlete, Andrew Clarke, got tired of being under Bender’s watchful glare. Unknown to Andrew, however, Bender’s mind was far from thinking about him. Bender has someone else on his mind that had captured his thoughts, but nobody needed to know that.
“Scumbag.” Andrew had enough of Bender and his antics. The least he could do was mumble under his breath. The last thing he needed was another argument with the school’s biggest asshole. But of course, he know another one would roll along eventually.
Bender stood up and strolled over the railing on the side of the library with plan fabricating in his mind. What exactly was he going to do to irritate the poor little athlete? Well, you’re about to find out. Bender sat on the railing, sending subtle wink Riley’s way, who was much too busy reading her book to notice. Or so he thought.
“What do you say we close that door,” Bender started. “We can’t have any kind of party around here with Veron checking us out every few seconds.” Brian, God help him, immediately countered Bender to remind him of Vernon’s rules. “Well, you know the door’s s’posed to stay open.”
“So what?” Brian instantly regretted his decision and sunk back into his chair. No use in standing up to someone three times stronger than he is. “So, why don’t you just shut up? There’s five other people in her you know.” Riley’s ears perked up at Andrew’s statement, happy that someone at least acknowledged her existence. Even if she wasn’t directly involved in the conversation.
“God, you can count, “ Bender countered, leaning forward on the railing. “See! I knew you had to be smart to be a wrestler.” “Who the hell are you to judge anybody anyway.” Andrew shot back, verbally taking a punch at Bender. “Really.” Claire added, just to be involved in the argument. The queen bee always had to be involved in everything, How else was she going to know all the gossip otherwise?
“You know, Bender...you don’t even count. I mean if you disappeared forever it wouldn’t make any difference. You may as well not even exist in this school.” For once, Andy’s comment actually affected Bender, but being him, Bender didn’t let it show. He’s been bottling up his emotions for years. He took a deep breath, composing himself, before shooting back another retort at the athlete.
“Well, I’ll just run right out and join the wrestling team.”
Andrew turned to face Claire, both sharing a laugh at Bender’s comment. Bender switched his gaze, landing it right on Claire before he spoke. “Maybe the prep club too!” Student Council.....Bender could have gone on for days. But Claire wouldn’t let him. She wouldn’t let anyone bash her reputation. Especially not a “low life” like Bender.
“No.” Andrew needed to get his two-bits in as well. “They wouldn’t take you.” “I’m hurt.” Bender mockingly responded, scoffing while he does so.
“You know why you guys know everything?”
“Oh, this should be stunning.” Claire earned another scoff from Bender.
“It’s ‘cause you're afraid.” Bender responded, mock enthusiasm laced in the fabric of his voice. “Oh, God! You richies are so smart, that’s exactly why I’m not heavy in activities.”
“You’re just a big coward.”
Brian, who sat just a table away, felt incredibly left out. The Brain, who was just full of bad decisions today, decided to step in. After all, he wanted to be acknowledged too.
Sorry guys, it's a short chapter. I'll upate more as soon as I can.
