"C'mon Vince! Lets get into the line for food before it gets way too long!" Kyle said while tugging on Vince's sleeve. "Give me a second Dang it! I have to put my Baritone on the truck." Vince reminded.
Kyle hated waiting on Vince. He would take forever. It wasn't Vince's fault this time. He had to make sure that he had everything for the first Football game of the Season. They had practiced so hard during the summer preparing for this day, and it would be such a shame if he couldn't get on the band bus because he forgot something like his water jug or his flip folder. He finally handed the lady loading the instruments on the band trailer his baritone. The lady then placed it on one of the shelves.
"Ready?" Vince said, walking towards the school. "Yeah, lets eat. I haven't had anything since this morning, and it was something small." Kyle said, catching up to Vince. They opened the door and saw the 3 women sitting at the table, with a long line behind them. "Dang it, Vince! Look how long the line is. We will barely have time to eat! I hate you." Kyle said in a sarcastic way. He would never hate Vince. They have been best friends since Kindergarten, and will always be best friends. They made a promise a long time ago. A promise that would never break. They promised each other that nothing will get in the way of their friendship, and nothing has ever gotten in the way of it.
They both got in the line, and very slowly moved up to the front. When they were almost to the 3 ladies, Vince suddenly caught a glimpse of Pierce, the leader of the High School and Section leader of the loudest group, the trumpets. Vince once heard that the Band director gave Pierce the Section leader rights because he was scared of Pierce and he didn't want to get hurt. Vince really did have a hard time believing this, because the Band Director is very strong, and he probably wouldn't let some 16 year old kid beat him up, and besides, as much as Vince hates to admit it, Pierce is a very good Trumpet Player and a good Marcher, but has a very horrible attitude. He thinks that since he is a Ruler of the High school, he thinks that he rules everyone, when he doesn't.
He saw Vince when he was walking by and shoved him onto the ground. "Stop staring at me, scrub." Pierce said, laughing as he was walking away. "Hey, you ok?" Kyle said as he was helping Vince up. "Yeah. That idiot. He really needs to be put in his place." Vince said with his fist clenched.
They got their food and headed to their spot where they always hang out during lunch, the Band Hallway. Of course, Vince forgot his phone in his backpack, so he ran in the Band Hall to get it. "Ok Vince. I'll be here waiting for you." said Kyle. Kyle ate his chicken fingers and his Pringles very slowly. As Kyle finally finished all of his food, he kinda got worried about Vince. He threw his trash away and walked into the Band Hall.
"Get up you nerd! You too scared to fight me?" yelled Pierce. "Hey! Cut it out Pierce!" yelled Kyle, "He did nothing to you, so why are you hurting him?" "What do we have here? A Clarinet! Haha! You wish you were one of us. Now scram you two before I hurt y'all both!" said Pierce. Vince and Kyle ran out of there, rushed to their hiding spot.
"Are you ok? You look really bad. Sure you can march today?" said Kyle. "Yeah, it's just a nosebleed. I'll be fine." said Vince. Just then, a girl walked up to them. "You ok? I saw what happened and I wanted to make sure you were ok." said the girl. "I'm ok, Pam, thanks though." said Vince. "Well, do you mind if I sit with y'all?" said Pam. "No, not at all." said Kyle. Kyle has always liked Pam, who was also a Clarinet. They used to be best friends, until she dated Pierce. They never really hit it off though, so that relationship didn't last very long. "Anyways, we should get going. It's almost time for inspection." said Pam. They all stood up and walked over to the Upper Gym Lobby.
