I push the door open with a sigh and Sharya bounds out energetically.
“I can't wait until next week!” she exclaims excitedly.
“Yeah” I sigh “Me neither”
I slowly lug myself back into my bedroom and close the door behind me, I instantly pry open my laptop and begin scrolling through my Face Book news feed. Suddenly, a chat box pops up and I hear the tweeting sound of an incoming message.
'hey girl' I read, the message was from my best friend, Rebecca.
'hey, feels like forever since we've spoken!' I reply
'Kasia, it's been 3 hours since school let out! Don't be so clingy ;)'
'We might just have to break off our relationship if this is what you're going to be like'
'Fine. I didn't want to be the type of boyfriend that broke things off on an online chat but you've pushed me this far ;)'
The best thing about Rebecca is her sense of humour, whenever she is around you expect to have a laugh. This is one of the main reasons that I love her so much as a best friend.
I mentally laughed to myself and replied,
'Anyway, what're your plans for these holidays? Sleepover galore as per usual?'
'You betcha! I can't turn down an offer like that!'
I was about to reply when a message came through
'I've gotta go now Kasia, ttyl xox'
I sighed and proceeded aimlessly scrolling throughout any social media network that came to mind, not even 10 seconds later a message popped up from an unidentified user. I read it out loud to no one in particular
'Hey, how are you?'
I swallowed a lump in my throat and instantly slapped my own wrist for it, it's probably a friend who forgot to turn their user ID back on.
'Hey there, who's this' I replied blowing out a warm sigh of relief from the back of my throat.
'Robert' came a reply almost instantly.
I racked my brain trying to remember if I knew any Robert's from school or from soccer, none came to mind.
'Do I know you?'
'I don't know, do you?'
A shiver ran down my spine, I was getting creeped out.
'I don't think I do, do you know me?' I typed hesitantly before clicking send.
'Yes, indeed I do'
I gripped the bottom of my chair and my knuckles began turning white, my fingers ached before gaining enough courage to write a single word reply.
'How?'
Immediately after it was sent he logged out, I clenched my knees to my chest and rested my forehead on my cool thighs. A tweeting sounded throughout the room that made me jump out of my skin. I covered my eyes with my hands and peeped out through my fingers at my computer screen, it was just Rebecca.
'Hey, I'm back' she wrote.
'I'm so glad it's just you' I sighed to myself in relief.
'Who else would it be?'
I shuddered before replying
'You have no idea'
