I'm Maxwell Clover or Max Clover. I've been lied to my entire life. It all started when my father, Alex Smith, decided to have a child with the devil...or...you know, my mum. Rebecca D. Clover-Smith. And you know what her middle-name initial stands for...Devil.
Rebecca and my father met in high school. She was on the cheer squad and slept with every guy on the football team, including my father. He fell in love with her and decided, the night of the final (football) game, he'd ask the hottest girl and cheer squad captain, out for a date. But the night before the game, after practice, Rebecca decided it was my father's turn for 'getting some' and so they slept together and Rebecca left. Two weeks later Rebecca found out she was expecting.
She hadn't told my father that 1) She was pregnant or that 2) She was pregnant with my father's child. So guess how excited he was...So, four months later, the whole school knows and can obviously see that Rebecca D. Clover, got knocked up. And you can guess how stoked her parents were when Rebecca told them she "didn't know" who the father was...
Then, four more months later, my father had been stationed in San Diego, California and graduated a month early and left. Then while he was training to go into the fields, he was called to the General in Command's office where he was told a Rebecca D. Clover phoned in to inform an Alex H. Smith, that she just gave birth to a beautiful baby girl Maxwell Clover, and that the baby was his. The General in Command congratulated Alex on the birth of his daughter and told him to 'go home to the girl and his child'. So Alex took a day off to go to his home he had bought and then went out and did a tiny amount a shopping...which is an understatement. He flew to Atlanta and rushed to Rebecca's parents house.
There he explained what happened between Rebecca and himself and what his plans were for the night after the final game. Rebecca's mother was infuriated not with Alex, but with her daughter. She had lied about not knowing the father of her child and then she never told the father himself, until after the two hours of labor she went through to give birth to the child.
Rebecca's father was a whole different story. He was a bit upset because his only daughter had just let a child into this hellhole of a world at the age of sixteen years. But, he was also thankful for Alex. My dad asked Rebecca's father if he could have her hand in marriage because he is in love with her and he would never abandon a mother and her child, especially the mother of his child.
So my father and Rebecca were married the next day and he asked her to move in with him at his home in California. And up until I was three years of age, I lived in California. Then Rebecca got a job in New York as the secretary to a semi-rich, okay looking guy who was the manager of some enterprise. So while my father was continuing to fight for the country in Iraq we- Rebecca and three-years-of-age-me moved to New York City and lived in an apartment until a few hours ago...
