Congratulations on your 24th birthday! Here's my little tribute to you on this very special occasion!
He may be known for his beauty and flower boy image, but there is so much more to this man-child called Luhan.
Despite his immense popularity, Luhan remains humble and down-to-earth, always trying to stay out of the spotlight whether it’s on-stage or in front of the camera. I find it endearing that he still stutters and is generally at a loss of words whenever the spotlight’s on him and I just wanna hug and comfort him and tell him it’s okay.
His delicate features belie a manly personality. He is not a man eloquent with words, nor someone who impresses others with beautiful words or big promises. Rather, he is a man who prefers to let the results show. From debut MAMA - WOLF/GROWL - Miracles in December - Overdose, he has worked so hard, and keeps on improving every time, inspiring many of his fans with his dedication and perseverance towards his dreams. In the process, he has suffered from injuries and ill health for months but he never complained nor used them as excuses, instead choosing to hide his scars and pain with his beautiful smiles. If not for close-up photos and fan accounts of his visits to the hospital, no one would know the better.
He is one of the kindest souls, and his BFF Yixing has said before that Luhan’s greatest weakness is he’s too kind. He’s always there for members when they need him, be it protecting Yixing when his back hurt, lending a shoulder to TAO when he’s feeling under the weather, or helping and translating for the Korean members. Whenever he sees a member in need, he’ll lend a helping hand. As such, he is close to all the members. His loyalty and helpfulness is not limited to members but he also has many friends pre-debut that he still keeps in close contact with, and it’s so sweet that they still watch over him like a brother.
He is often misunderstood and has gone through a lot, from senseless attacks to jealous rants from within and outside the fandom. Yet he takes it all in his stride and soldiers on, preferring to internalise his feelings and not let others worry over him. If not for Jongdae who told us that Luhan screams in his sleep, how would we know of the intense pressure that he’s going through?
To the beautiful Luhan, all I wish is for you to be healthy and happy always. Continue to do the things you enjoy and stay true to yourself! Happy Birthday, deerest Luhan!
