Chapter 2

We spend all afternoon up in the mountains, talking and laughing, god it felt good to laugh again.

"The suns gonna set soon we should get back" he says. Instinctively I look up at the sky and sure enough the sun was getting pretty low.

"Yeah I guess so" I say smiling.

"I wish we didn't have to go back, I wish we could stay out here forever you know?" He tells me.

"I do know. But you have a great life, why would you need to hide out up here?"

"Who said anything about hiding out?" He said, a smirk spreading across his face. "And as for the greatness of me life, well sweetheart you have a lot to learn."

Were pretty much at the fence when his hands cover my mouth and he starts to drag me backwards. Startled I thrash against his hands.

"Shh, shh, please just be quiet." He sushes me. I stop fighting and he let's go.

"Why are we hiding behind a berry bush" I whisper in his ear. He doesn't say anything but instead points. I see them now, 3 tatives, that's what I call the lower class authorities. How had I not seen them before! I'm always so careful when I come up here. We stay hidden until they've gone way up into the mountains side.

"Do you think they're looking for us?" Derek asks me.

"Surely not, I've been coming up here forever & they've never noticed I was missing.. Wait is this your first time past the fence?!" I tease him.
He laughs trying to cover up his embarrassment & then he does something unexpected. He leans in & kisses me. Soft but sure. Unlike me he knew what he was doing. I fall into the kiss, feeling his lips against mine. My brain finally catches up & I pull back.

"I uh, I can't." I say as I run towards the fence. I don't stop running until I'm in my house going up the stairs to my room.
