Craig
After my amazing shift at work, I clocked out and exited the building into the early hours of the night, and started dragging my feet along the pavement on my way home. I noticed hints of moonlight seeping through the grey clouds and not even three steps down the sidewalk, and I heard my name being called.
"Crip! Crip! Wait up, dude!" Ezekiel yelled from behind me. I slowed my pacing, allowing him to catch up.
"I thought I told you to stop calling me that out here in public. If I get my ass beat, it's all on you," I laughed, earning a smile from him.
"Whatever, Crip. I wanted to know if you needed a ride home? Seeing how all of that shit went down this morning, I don't think you should be walking home alone anyways. Plus it looks like it's about to pour down at any minute." I contemplated his offer and maybe he was right, but there was one issue.
"Um, you know my pants are covered with piss right?" I asked him, raising an eyebrow. He shrugged his shoulders, "Doesn't bother me. Come on, let's go," he started pulling me along towards the back of the building, where the parking lot was located. I wanted to protest, but I knew it would be useless with this dude. When we reached his electric green Camero, I opened the passenger door to have my nose slapped with that new car smell.
"Zeek, what the fuck? You just got this ride and you want me to fuck it up already? I appreciate it but I can walk. It's fine," I declared, closing the door back and turning to walk off.
"Boy if you don't get your pee pee covered ass in this car and stop playing," he chuckled. I shook my head and continued to walk away.
Soon after, I found myself back on the same sidewalk regretting declining Ezekiel's offer, with the sky rapidly becoming darker and the streetlights turning on. I estimated that it would take 40 more minutes until I got home, it shouldn't be too bad. Plus this gives me time to exercise, since I never seem to be able to anymore. I'm really trying to distract myself from turning around and running back to see if I could catch that ride. Completely caught up in my thoughts, I didn't realize that it had started raining and puddles were already forming everywhere. I sighed and quickened my pace, turning from a brisk walk to a light run, in an attempt to get home faster. 35 more minutes, at least now I have some motivation. I mentally played a random song to help my task seem less harsh. I had been running for 10 minutes and I wasn't even tired. Shit, I feel good about myself. I silently laughed and skipped in the air, like a little child playing in the rain, only to have my foot slip in one of the fucking puddles of water. Everything went in slow motion, as I panicked and my arms flailed everywhere. My brain kept telling them to prepare to catch me, but instead they disobeyed and continued to have their false muscle spasm. My vision was filled with the sidewalk's pavement getting closer to my face. I closed my eyes so I didn't have to see the impact, secretly hoping it would somehow prevent me from feeling it, as well. I was wrong as hell. Not only did I feel my face crashing onto the concrete, but I got to hear the lovely sound of my nose cracking, followed by an eruption of laughter from my side. Groaning, I just laid there, letting the rain cleanse me of embarrassment. I shouldn't even have a sense of embarrassment anymore, from all of the shit that happens to me all of the time. The laughter grew closer and I felt numerous hands roam my body, feeling inside of my pockets. I finally came to my senses and rolled over to see three dirty ass homeless men trying to pick pocket me.
"Get the fuck off!," I yelled, holding my broken nose and scrambling to my feet.
"It's not like you had shit anyways with your broke ass!" one of the men stated. I thought about how ironic his comment was.
"Yeah, go a head and prance on home you little fairy!" another one exclaimed. They all started skipping around, mimicking my earlier actions. Fucking bullies.
