The next evening The mysterious Mercenary perched above a building, as the clouds grew closer together, allowing no blue, clear skies to peak through, which was normal for Gotham.
Unlike most days it wasn't raining, though to her that held no difference to her daily lifestyle. She was far too busy listening to the sounds of the Cars rushing by, people yelling to eachother and the various other noises that you would see as an everyday thing.
She closed her eyes breathing in the Damp air, it smelt like wet concrete, although it wasn't raining, the heavily downfall of last night seeped into the concrete, allowing it to heat the air, making it more sweaty and clamp.
'peace...quiet...trenquil....'
She breathed in once more,
' Peace...quiet...tren-'Her thoughts were cut off as the winds direction went south, to North-east, making her hair slap across her face, causing her to sigh in frustration.
She got up before moving her hair out of her face annoyed before peering back over the Building that she was previously eyeing. It wasn't the usual everyday building people would normally find themselves stumbling into, and she had to admit that it was quite a sight for the eyes.
Wayne Enterprises
She shook herself from its grasp before muttering to herself, " Get a grip, you have work to do and little time to waste, it's time to get this over with."
And with that she was off again, flipping and jumping building to building. It was nice, having the adrenaline pumping through her veins, the Wind in her hair, this had always been like another world to her, one where she could just forget about reality and just... Be herself.
She only stopped when she was right infront of the building. She had to be careful, even though she was the best Mercenary Gotham had seen, she wasn't going to take any chances.
She started climbing up the side of the Building, only until she was on the 31st floor did she pause before taking one hand off the wall to her earpiece, changing the frequency so that she could hear what ever was going on in the hallway through the wall she was now on.
" Can't believe Bruce left, again! When will he finally go through a meeting without some family interruption?" A man dressed in a formal blue suit asked walking past along side another Co worker.
" You know how it is, he has a lot to maintain." he reasoned putting a hand onto his colleague's shoulder giving him a comforting smile before they continue walking slowly.
" I know, I just wish It wasn't always the same problem, I don't know how he copes. "
" be glad you don't have to. "
Only when they were out of hearing range was it that she decided to go in. She unlocked the window using a Bobby pin she had stashed somewhere and a long metal wire to hold it in place, before she fiddled with the lock. Sticking her tongue out in concentration until she heard the satisfactory 'click'.
Slipping through the window she jumped up, climbing into an air vent that would lead strait towards the Vaulted room. A few minutes later she stopped peering down the vent and that's when she realised she was already there.
Silently she jumped down, no one seemed to be walking around so it was fine. Her eyes landed on the gold vaulted door, before she stepped forwards, pulling out a circular device with red and blue wires prodding out of it. She placed it on the door and a few moments later a loud click was heard as the door opened.
"Time to see what you've been hiding Bruce Wayne." A satisfactory smirk on her face before she heard a quiet thud behind her.
" You know, if your going to steal something, you should really do it out of plain sight. "
This caused her to whip round. She was face to face with the Robin. she was going to admit, he was smarter thanshe expected. She was hoping that no one would expect a teenager to sneak in Wayne Enterprises during the day. But hey, she can work on it.
" Lookie What the cat dragged in~ " She cooed before forming a stance, " Let's see if Bird Boy's got some skills. " A smirk formed Apon her face. It had been a long time since she was actually given a challenge, not to mention from the former Prince of the league of Assassins.
" Tch, let's get this over with. " He withdrew his own katana. Another reason she was excited, while she withdrew her Twin Katanas. They had similar Weapon preferences.
They battled for a while, that was until the boy wonder managed to pin her to the floor. " It's over Defiant Devil. " He smirked victoriously. She gave him the exact same expression, which seemed to confuse him.
Thst was until she started glitching out. " sorry to burst your Bubble Birdie, but you just gave me enough time to get what I was after and go. " She vanished.
It was a hologram.
" DARN IT! " He yelled punching the wall. That was till he spotted a note besides him on the wall,
Cya later Bird Boy.
Thanks for the toys.~ Defiant Devil ❤
