“Eddie!" A females voice could be heard. My dads head snapped up and Aaron looked at me. I could hear the footsteps and a petite woman with wavy blonde hair entered the kitchen. She froze once she caught sight of me.
Dad was making us sandwiches and Aaron and I were on the counter, playing Go Fish. She looked between Aaron and I, then to Dad. He slowly nodded his head. Her eyes widened and tears began to form. She walked my way. Once she was close enough, she lifted a shaky hand and carressed my cheek. “Oh, Eddie is this really my little girl?"
“Shes finally home Kate."
My mother began to sob, holding onto him for support. Aaron went up to her and whispered something in her ear.
I looked exactly like her. The same height, eye color and smile. In was a replica of my mother. My mother embraced me into a tight hug. "Oh thank the Moon Goddess." as she stroked my hair and cried into my shoulder.
"Mom, you don't want to kill her before you get to know her." My mother loosened her hold on me but did not let go. Her eyes were rivers of tears. "Eddie, my baby. She's here. She's safe."
My brother was able to distance me from her. I took a deep breath and inhaled. My mother's eyes were on me, studying my features, mesmerizing every bit of me. "We have dinner in an hour, why don't you and Aaron go our on the patio and continue your game."
Aaron grabbed the cards and led me out throught the back onto the deck. The backyard was beautiful. The grass was green and the garden was blooming with flowers, natures decorations.
Instead of continuing our game, we sat down into the chairs and just sat their in complete silence. "She's missed you." I looked at him to see that he was still looking forward.
I nodded my head because I didn't know what to say.
Aaron's eyes glistened with anger and disappointment. All which were for him. "Aaron, don't."
Knowing words would not passify his feelings, I got up and hugged him. I poured all my feelings into this hug. Aaron froze and then wrapped his arms around me, whispering "Oh Sabrina, you have no idea how we've missed you. You're the missing puzzle piece to us."
I heard a flash and Aaron and i tilted our heads to see my mom with her eyes still red and puffy with a camera in her hands. "Dinner's ready."
Throughout dinner, my mother's eyes would be on me. Dinner was mostly questions aimed at me. Aaron and Dad cracked jokes, considering Aaron wasn't that funny. My mother brought up embarrassing baby stories of Aaron, whose cheeks turned a bright red. comfortable.
It felt as if I had never left.
