"Mae! Mae are you okay?!" She wont wake up. Im covered in my bestfriends blood, in the pouring rain and she wont wake up. I glance back at the mess of metal and glass. The driver that hit us was on the phone with the ambulance. I hear Mae cough, I draw my attention back to her. Still unconsious and bleeding. I take my jacket off and press it onto the gaping hole in her stomach. "Please Mae...please be okay. Im so sorry." Its my fault shes like this. I wasnt paying attention. Wasnt thinking. And now that may cost me my best friend. Its all my fault, it should be me not her! This isnt fair! I feel my face get hot and my throat stings from fighting tears. I dont battle them anymore.
The sirens slowly over power the sound of rain as they near. "Its gunna be okay, Mae. Itll be okay." I reassure mostly myself.
