10 years later.

"Here's a handbook you can look at that might answer some questions about how you would like to improve your looks."

"If you want to add or take away anything that we didn't talk about feel free to contact me at any time."

The surgeon told Helga. He walked her to the door and left to go attend another patient.

Helga walked out of A Beauty Transform into the sunny California breeze with a new spring in her steps.

Wow! Shed finally saved enough to get her face the way she wanted. She would also alter her whole face. Not only would she fix the scar problem, but her ears would go up higher.

She would have her face brought in some and have fuller lips. She would have her nose narrowed and straighter. She might even dye her hair a dark burgundy at the new Hair Beauty salon.

She was so happy she was finally getting what shed wanted for a long time.

She reached her Honda Civic that she had bought from Mrs. Huns, her apartment neighbor to her left. It was two years old and she's been using it for a few months.

She got in her car and checked her Samsung phone for texts from Joseph, her sweet boyfriend. She snapped a picture of herself with the handbook and typed. ONE WEEK LEFT TILL IM NEW AND IMPROVED. She sends it and turned off the phone.

She let her thoughts wander as she drove to her apartment. Joseph, the only true friend she had and loved. He was in Nepal with his Uncle, who lived there and they were helping build houses. Joseph wasn't religious or anything. He just loved helping people. She had met him when she first started working at Jacks Soap.

She was sitting at a picnic table all by herself during lunch break when he had walked up to her table and sat across from her. He started to talk like they'd known each other all along.

He had shocked her when he'd said she was really beautiful, but then she realized that she had on layers of makeup, after that he started to pursue her and she had eventually said yes to him when he had asked her out.

About a month ago, she had shown him her hideous scars. He hadn't even wince or withdrawn from her. He had just told her he was sorry and had kissed her. She smiled as she turned into the parking lot of the Shallow Waters apartments.

She left the car and took the elevator to the third floor and walked to her apartment. She opened the door and went inside.

She opened the fridge and got out a container of chicken salad.

She sat on the couch, flipped on Netflix and looked through the handbook.

She turned on her phone to look at a message from Joseph reminding her he would be in California tomorrow and that she didn't need plastic surgery to look beautiful.

She rolled her eyes. Joseph was the only one who was convinced and told her that she was beautiful without having to transform her face.

He obviously didn't understand all the turmoil she had gone through with an ugly face, but whatever. He was a guy and didn't even understand how important this was to her. She was nervous, excited and fearful of how this would all turn out.

"Kids forever, kids forever, baby soft skin turns into leather, don't be dramatic, its only some plastic, no one will love you if you're unattractive. She hummed her favorite song Mrs. Potato Head by Melanie Martinez."  She hummed her favorite song.

1 Week later

"Wow Helga your plastic surgeon did an amazing job!" exclaimed Jesse.

"Thanks" replied Helga with a tight smile.
