“Giovanni Stetzel, are you sure about that?” A man in a black and blue cape asked. Giovanni turned around and humbly nodded. The lamplight flickered and flickered as the cold gusty winds of December breezed in to the dark room.
The air fogged as the man in cape sighed, “I guess that would suffice the situation for now.” Giovanni nodded again as she served mugs of strong coffee to the other guests.
Another caped man spoke up, “Please sir, just hand this dilemma to me. I would be really glad to help for the betterment of this society.” His uneven teeth revealed as he showed his awkward crooked smile.
“Sir Thanus, please let Master Cannes Hurri decide. You are not in the place to-“. Giovanni was suddenly cut off by the raging Thanus.
“And so are you Miss Stetzel! As a matter of fact MISS, I’m on a higher position than you are!” Sir Thanus’ beard swayed as he controlled himself from unleashing a lightning bolt. The room was deadly silent.
“Sir FonTai, please escort him to his room. And DON’T forget his medicine.” Cannes commanded, makig sure his tone was forceful enough for the young man to memorize. Fon was staring at someone.
“Sir Fon!”
Fon snapped out of his own world and off they went to obey their lord's command. Giovanni pursed her lips in shame and tried to cover herself with the metal tray. Cannes quickly reached for her and ran his fingers to her flaming red hair.
“Now, now, my dear child. You didn’t do anything wrong, you hear me? Nothing wrong…” His voice whimpered of his old age.
“But I want to make you and this council very proud. Can’t I do that?” Giovanni let go of Cannes grasp and looked at the remaining guests in the eyes. “Like I promised when I was a little kid; I will uplift this council's bloody past and it will, once again, be known for the better good of all.”
The other members of the council nodded.
One of them spoke, “Oh really, little girl? We’ll see!” The others snickered. Cannes waved a finger to them and a force of wind shut their mouths.
“Assembly is over. Well, have a good day everybody.” Cannes concluded. Giovanni rushed out of the hall and made her way to her room. When Cannes got out of the room, the council shared mumbles to each other.
“Tch, just because he could control the Western weather…”
“When will this be solved?”
“Sir Thanus is such a short-tempered ancient...”
“Poor Sir FonTai.” More statements and complaints went on and on ‘till the end of the meeting.
“Hee-hee-hee” Sir Fon laughed his signature laugh as he gave Sir Thanus’ medicine. “What is it, Sir Fon? You didn’t put anything on my medicine, did you?” asked Sir Thanus.
Fon replied with a giggle, “Nothing, Sir! You just looked quite funny when you were caught in rage earlier. Hee-hee-hee.” That certain laugh of his would've made anyone who would hear it go ballistic.
“For a young man, you’re quite of a mad type. I think you should take the medicine, my boy.”
“Oh sire! You always make me laugh!”
“I am not joking, Sir Fon. You should take the medicine.”
“But sir, this medicine is just for you. It makes your temper longer and I’m a very patient person, Sire. Therefore, I could not take this medicine.”
Sir Thanus played with his beard for a while.
“Alright, alright. I’ll take it, you... you tea-loving klutz.”
He quickly took the medicine in one gulp. He choked and complained about the taste of the medicine.
“Okay, sir! You better go to sleep so the medicine will take effect.” Then Fon went out of the room slowly.
As Sir Fon walked in the hallway, women younger than him were murmuring and the same time peeking at him. He noticed that they were blushing and he approached them in delight.
“Good day ladies. Are you finished with today’s chores?”
One stuttered as she spoke. “W-w-well, Sir, w-we are not yet f-f-finished. But we’re on our way!”
“Well? What are you waiting for? Get back to own work. You didn’t apply here just to sit down and relax.” He raised his brows and smiled. Fon's smile would've made the servants faint already but they have to contain thereselves.
The ladies bowed down and off they went still giggling and mumbling. “Sir Fon is such a waste, right?” asked Maura; an 18 - yr.old with brown wavy locks reaching down to her shoulders, with matching gray eyes.
“What are you talking about?” One asked.
Maura replied, “I mean, if he didn’t join this council, maybe he might have started a family now.”
The eldest, about 30, answered back, “And you think that you might end up with him? Ha-ha! You are so pathetic. He chose this because it’s his destiny to be one of the Sacred Gods council.”
Another one talked, “And by the way, they can’t back out and live another life.” while wiggling her pointing finger to Maura.
Maura beacme all flustered, bowed her head and ran off.
“She really likes him.” The others chorused and returned to their work.
Maura, walking timidly, spoke in her mind, “Why can’t they back out? He’s the whole reason I’m here. Does he even notice me?”
Then she suddenly bumped into someone. She didn’t look but who was it but she just bowed and apologized. She noticed that the person was crying so she raised her head. It was Giovanni.
“I-I’m very sorry, Ma’am! I didn’t do it on purpose!”
Giovanni wiped her tears away and apologized at Maura, “No, no. I’m sorry. I wasn’t looking.”
“Ma’am, is there a problem?”
“None, really. I’m fine.” She then thought of an excuse. “I just can’t find one of the pendants that Master Cannes gave.”
“I’ll help you find it, if you wish.”
“It’s fine, really. I, I just have to retrace my steps.” Then Giovanni walked away and continued to weep.
Maura walked away in the opposite direction like nothing happened and continued on thinking.
