Dylan waited in terror as the sound of  heavy footsteps slowly came closer within each step to the door of his room. Although it was locked, he knew it could never stop the killer approaching. He clutched the small kitchen knife he held firmly in his hand and stayed sitting in the closet with the door cracked. If Bughuul were to find him, he knew this knife would do nothing against the monster. Which meant Dylan was pretty much defenseless. Ever since strange things had started happening around here, Dylan had kept that knife in his dresser for comfort just in case the day came when he might need it.Dylan had never really thought about what he would do if he actually had to use it. He had never considered his level of strength or courage until now especially since he was  against something far more powerful than he could ever be.
Bughuul had once killed Milo and all the other ghost children who  had been haunting Dylan and making him watch those "home videos" in the attic. There was no way Dylan would stand a chance against Bughuul. He wondered if he would end up just like Milo and the others...
Suddenly a faint glow appeared a few feet away from where he sat in the corner of the large closet. The light was dim but it soon took the form of the young, dark haired boy who Dylan recognized all too well. It appeared to be Milo
"What are you doing here?" Dylan whispered to Milo as quietly as he could, but trying to contain all his anger toward the ghost boy. After all it was his fault that Bughuul was coming for Dylan. Everything that had happened was all  Milo's fault.
"You have to come with me", Milo whispered "it's the only way you'll escape him." Dylan heard s slight hint of panic in his voice but he still didn't know what Milo had in mind and Dylan really didn't trust him at all, Why was he suddenly trying to save him after everything he had done? "Grab my hand, Dylan", Milo demanded.
"Why are you trying to save me?"
"I'll explain later... just do it"
Dylan reluctantly obliged, wondering if Milo's intentions were truly good. He suspected that they probably weren't, but at this point, Dylan needed to get away and this could be his only chance of an escape.
What seemed like a moment later
the boys appeared in the field surrounding  surrounding the old farmhouse. Dylan blinked his eyes and tried to clear his vision, even though it was still looked kind of dark. He noticed his hand in still in Milo's and quickly pulled it back, slightly embarrassed. He felt the blood slowly drain from his head and sat down in the tall grass, before he fell down. Milo in the other hand still stood as tall as always and looked down at the other boy.

"Dylan, you need to leave this place now. Go far away and never come back or you might not be this lucky next time." Milo crouched down beside Dylan so that they were eye level. Dylan felt his palms still shaking and hoped that Milo didn't notice how sweaty his hand must have felt when he was holding it and he didn't dare stand up in fear of falling back to the ground. He looked over to Milo who no longer looked ghostly like he did before they had escaped the closet. He looked as solid as any living boy, but Dylan was well aware of the full moon's pale light bathing his own skin and he noticed that no light from the moon seemed to touch Milo. The ghost boy remained in shadow as if he were always in a dimly lit room.
Dylan couldn't believe Milo was now trying to get him to leave. "What do you care what happens to me, Milo?"
"It's your fault all this is happening in the first place!"
The ghost boy gave s sad smile.
"I know. I'm so sorry,Dylan...but I had to do it. We all did."
This response only made Dylan angrier. He was sick of Milo's indirect answers.
"Look, Milo I know why you started this whole thing. But I don't know why your suddenly saving me and acting like some hero who's coming to my rescue when none of this would have happened in the first place if it weren't for you!!"
Milo crossed his arms and turned away. He sighed.
" Ok fine Dylan. I'll admit it. I changed my mind."
"About what?!"
Milo clearly didn't want to talk about it and was doing everything he could to avoid Dylan's questions. But Dylan wasn't going to let him get away with this. This was a serious situation.
Milo rolled his eyes. " Maybe I changed my mind and now I want to start helping...is that so hard to understand?"
Dylan gave him a look and Milo rolled his eyes.
"And Maybe I think your too cute to just be slaughtered by Bughuul." Dylan's eyes widened and he felt his face grow uncontrollably hot. "C-cute?"

A  smirk slowly grew upon Milo's lips. "Are you blushing?"

Dylan stammered over his words. "Well...I guess your kind of -Never mind It doesn't matter! This is too serious of a situation to be playing around-" Milo was now fully smiling.
"I think you like me, Dylan."
Dylan looked at him in disbelief and shock and felt his face become even redder. He imagined is was probably pretty visible and he felt ridiculous.
"I do not! Why are we even discussing this right now?! How could Milo be playing around with him like this?
Milo stepped towards him, making Dylan's heart rate pick up. They were  way out in the field and the woods surrounded the area. Dylan knew he could run, but he would surely get lost which would be really bad considering there was a supernatural killer wandering around probably  looking for him right now.
Milo came forward more. " What if I told you that I liked you back?"
Dylan kicked at the grass.
"What kind of joke is this?! Like me back? Now you know yourself!Maybe this is what sealed your fate!"
He felt his face grow even redder if that was even possible. He had heard the anger in his own voice. An anger that had surprised even himself. He knew that Milo
Milo looked shocked for a moment the. sighed, exasperated. " Look Dylan. You just don't get it do you? Whatever. I didn't think you'd understand in the first place." The ghost boy turned his back and began walking towards the dark cluster of trees leaving Dylan standing in shock. Was it true? Could Milo really like Dylan? The thought seemed so outrageous that Dylan didn't know what to think.
"Wait!" He called out, unsure of why he decided to do that. "Your not planning on leaving me out here by myself  are you?"  Milo turned back and smiled. "I've sent Emma and Ted to get rid of Bughuul, Dylan. It's safe for now at least."
Dylan rolled his eyes and Milo smiled offering him his hand. "But if you insist, I'll show you the way back."
"I don't need you to show me...whatever," Dylan grumbled taking Milo's hand.
"I knew you liked me," Milo teased and Dylan allowed a small smile, What he didn't say as they walked, was that he knew perfectly well how to get back home. He still let Milo lead him back to the house, still frightened of what could be awaiting. When they they got there, it was almost dawn and Dylan noticed that the house was still and completely silent. He got right into bed and as he fell asleep, the boy wondered if this was all part of some horrible, yet lovely  nightmare as well.
