It was a totally normal evening for Hugo when they met. The dark haired man was driving through town peacfully, listening to his favourite song, 'Bad Blood' by Taylor Swift. He liked it because it reminded him of his favourite activity, vampire hunting.
As Hugo was trucking along, watching the buildings go by and humming his tune, he noticed what he thought was a bird attempting to carry a packet of salted crisps with its wings..? Upon closer inspection he realised it was a bat carrying a bag of blood. The vampire hunter immediately stopped his car to check out the scene and just as he got out, a crowd of security guards ran by chasing the flying creature waving their batons in the air.
Of course, Hugo immediately recognised that the bat was a vampire and he presumed the blood was a snack to them.Meanwhile, the bat was struggling to fly and carry a bag full of blood under his wing at the same time. Eventually, he fell. It was inevitable, just like his death would be. Virgil transformed back into a humanoid and closed his eyes, bracing for the impact of the pavement and the sweet release afterwards, but instead all he felt was an arm wrapped around his waist and another underneath his legs.
Before he even opened his eyes he whispered "Dammit." But then he opened one to check out his situation.
He looked up so see a hairy man of small stature and a familiar face looking down into his eyes with concern. Virgil paused for a second, wondering why he recognised him until it clicked. He was a vampire hunter, and an esteemed one too. The fanged boy quickly jumped out of Hugo's arms, blushing at being caught in such an embarrassing position, especially by such a threatening figure to the local vampires, and put his hands up expecting to have a holy symbol thrust at him or something of the sort.
Instead Hugo just picked up the burst blood bag that had hit the floor and held it up to him. "What were you planning on doing with that blood, mister?" Hugo scolded, motioning to the spilled blood on the pavement.
"Um, drinking it?" Virgil muttered nervously, scratching the back of his neck.
"I should hope not, young man." Hugo teased the boy.
"Dude, I'm hundreds of years older than you..." He smirked "old man." Virgil teased, sticking his toungue out.
Hugo fake gasped. "Apologise this isntant!"
"No way!" The prankster scoffed.
"Atleast apologise for your little prank," Hugo was getting tired of this kids nonsense by now.
He made Virgil go back to the clinic and apologise before they both walked back to Hugo's pickup.
"Alright, get in." Hugo ushered the rebellious boy into the vehicle.
"What? Why? Can't I just go already?" Virgil whined, but he wouldn't admit he was sort of intriged by this guy.
"You're coming with me, I can't just let you keep causing mischeif around here" He explained.
