As she was walking past the last house that leads her to the spot she smells something really good. As she went to investigate she saw someone cooking out. Still hungry she started to think about away to get some of the food. She waited for them to go inside to get something and when they did she would grab some of the food.
Well her chance came up because they went inside to get a plate for the burgers they were cooking. As soon as they closed the door to the house Emma ran up and grabbed a couple burgers then ran off into the woods.
When they came back out they noticed that some of the burgers were gone. That’s when they yelled. “Honey did you get some of the buggers off the grill?”
“No dear I didn’t. Maybe you knocked them off and an animal got them.”
“Well darn I guess so. Would you bring me some more meat then?”
“Sure dear.”
As Emma was walking to her hiding spot she noticed a young cat. The cat was black and white. She noticed the cat was really skinny. The cat most of smelled the burgers Emma had because it started to follow her. She didn’t know it at first.
When Emma knew she was getting close, she started to look for her markers. The first one she put up was a red neck tie that belonged to her dad that she tied to a tree branch. The reason why she put it there was because it looked/reminded her of a person’s neck.
After she found the ribbon she looked for the second marker. Now this second marker is a green sweater that belonged to her mom. Now the reason she used it was because the tree was the same size as her mom.
Now the last marker was her brother’s favorite hat. The reason she used it was because the spot where she slept at had a spot that the hat fit on.
As Emma settled down for the night she pulled out the burgers that she took. When she started to eat them she noticed she was being watched. As she looked harder she noticed it was a young skinny cat.
The cat is sitting far away from Emma. Knowing how it feels she decides to call it over. “Here kitty, come here kitty.” When the cat didn’t move she said. “Kitty is you hungry?”
Emma throws a tiny piece of burger to the cat. Which the cat ate it up. She continued to throw little pieces closer to her each time. Before long the cat was next to her. Emma decided to let the cat eat the rest of the burgers with her.
After they finished eating the burgers the cat laid next to Emma. She started to rub on the cat, thinking that she had a friend when all of a sudden the cat jumped up and ran off. Emma became sad after the cat ran away. Because she knew she would never have any friend’s people or animals.
Deciding she had enough she laid down for the night. As she was going to sleep she started to dream of the night she lost her family.
It was a rainy night and her family was having a family night. The nights normally involved eating a home cooked meal and then play some games.
But this night was different instead of eating at home they went out to eat and Emma’s parents were arguing, but Luke and Emma didn’t know what it was about. Her brother Luke was being a pest. This caused another fight and more between their parents.
So they decided to leave the restraint early. On the way home Emma’s parents were still arguing and her brother was still being a pest. She didn’t like it or want to deal with it.
“Mom he’s touching me!” Emma shouted to her mother.
“No, I’m not!” Luke yelled back.
“Either of you stop it now or you’re both going to be grounded.” Their mother said in a stern voice.
“But mom he’s touching me!” Emma whined.
“Emma Faye! I told you to quit it. So you know what, your grounded!” Emma’s mother yelled.
“But mom!?!” Emma started but her mom snapped.
“No buts’ Emma. Do you want it to be a couple weeks?”
