I am the Earth Daughter. I am endless. My brother is the Ocean Son. He is like me. Our mother was the Earth and our father was the Ocean. Together, we are all that is good and evil and in-between. We are all.
My parents are dead. They respond to the world, and the world is dying. My brother and I are the failsafe. As long as we remain alive, there is hope. If we die, the world will cease to exist.
My brother believes we are beyond saving. And he is angry at he past. For the past twenty years, he has been trying to kill me. If he succeeds, the world will end. Because as soon as I am dead, he will kill himself.
I can't let this happen.
I am the Earth Daughter.
-
“The world will be better off without us” he says, venom coloring his tone.
“It will be over” I reply. “That is not better.”
“You think that now, Callilah, but you'll realize-” he begins.
“That is no longer my name” I tell him.
“You try to act mortal” he replies. “Doesn't moving on tear you apart every time?”
“Caellum-” I start to say.
“I am Ocean Son” he replies. “I am not a mortal.”
“You wanted to be” I remind him. “Remember Sarah?”
“She's dead now” he replies coldly. “Like they all will be. Give up, Earth daughter. The fight is not worth the cost.”
“No” I reply. “No matter how you've forgotten, I haven't.”
“I haven't forgotten” Caellum spits. “I will never forget.”
“I know you miss Sarah” I reply. “But nothing is permanent-”
“Would you listen to yourself?” Caellum roars. “'Nothing is permanent'? Neither is the Earth. Neither are we! Give up, Earth daughter!”
“Never” I reply. “I will never condemn innocent mortals to death simply because you miss Sarah.”
“This isn't about Sarah” Caellum says. He raises the gun. And then, all of a sudden, a brick wall appears in front of me.
“You won't win” I tell him. The brick wall vanishes. That's okay. I have more tricks up my sleeve.
”I will” Caellum replies, smirking. And then there are ten of me, all exactly alike. Caellum swears.
“You hate mortals so much, yet you let slip their 'useless' words” I say. The words echo from the mouths of all my copies.
“Please” Caellum begs.
“No” I reply coldly. My copies speaks with me, move with me. We will only separate when I choose to. And I choose now.
Five of me turn and run, the other five remain. Caellum opens fire on the runners, his whole attention focused on them.
He doesn't notice when the true me slips away.
-
That was sixteen years ago. Caellum has caught up to me several times since. Each time, I got away. And then I had to move on.
I enjoy living as a mortal. I have lived out lifetimes of so many kinds, though always female. I can change appearance, voice, and age at will, but I can't be male. Just as Caellum can't be female.
I will choose a new country. A new life. A new identity. I will create what I need. Maybe this time, Caellum won't find me. But it is silly to have hope. Eventually, he will find me, and I will have to leave. Start over.
I am tired of starting over.
I just want to be safe.

An original! No One Direction.
This idea came to me one night, and kinda captured me. So I finally wrote the prologue. Tell me what you think. If I should continue it. Stuff like that.
