I think Tamil Tamilar word itself born from Thimil Thimilar Thimir 
Tammuz Dumuzhi.

Not as proposed in various other ways by Dr. Kamel Zvelbil and many other scholars.

Ancient Tamils used Kattumarams to travel high seas to reach Americas Europe Australia Africa.

Paradhavar Naadu became Bharatha Nadu. Bharath.

Thimilar Naadu became Thamilar Naadu Thamizh Naadu.

In so many ways India is a Land of Essentially Sea Farers Meenavars Fish People just like Netherlands Norwegians Finnish Dutch......the Orion's.....Aariyans..

Intact Sea Farers of Tamilnadu are actually called as Uzhavars of Kadal.....Kadal Uzhavars....Farmers of Sea.....

There is even a Men Fish called Uluvai Meen....Uzhuvai Meen....
The Farmer meen.
The Aariya Meen ....
Also the song of Fishermen to launch kattumarams on to sea for fishing travel is called aariya paduvathu.

Aariya paaduvathu is illustrated in many kadal sea based songs of Maestro Ilaiyaraja.

Aariya paaduvathu reduces stress of the fishermen improves group cohesion synchronises their timing of hand pushing ....also the same aariya paaduvathu is used by industrial workers when they install heavy machineries like lifting the hoist etc.

Latest Hindi movie Dum Laga Key  Haisa is also an aariya padal.

Aariya paadal doesn't immediately make it European or fair skinned.

I earnestly wish to reclaim Aariya word to Tamils.

Aariyars are Tamils.

Just like Dravidians are also Tamils.
