I, have a question. Why do I own everything... but my image? Better yet, why should I care? The way people, who do not know you personally, view you will change based on whatever new knowledge they have collected. They will almost always believe the negative over the positive. For some reason, in their mind it seems that whatever bad thing they had heard about you is more believable than your correction on the matter. I have no clue as to why they do this. An image has 2 main points to it. 1...the original point. And 2...the point from the viewer. When an artist creates a piece, it is believed that whatever true meaning behind it is in fact that... the true meaning. If someone finds it offensive, to bad. But if I were to post something, say something and someone takes offence to it...my true meaning has no matter. Sure, there are those situations when it is a quick fix misunderstanding. And there are those people who understand. But then there are those who do not even figure to ask for the true meaning. They create their own. Much like how art has many different interpretations, words can have the same. Usually the negative is the most believable in the group. Anyone will say good things about themselves. Who wants to make themselves look bad? On the question of "why should I care?", because image is important. Image affects your job. Affects your relationships. Affects the way people treat you. Most people are not strong enough to stand against it on their own. The problem is, most people will not stand with a stranger. So, it often turns out that if I have no credibility, and the people who are against me are "passionate", I am likely on my own. Against the media. Against my colleagues. The question might be a bit misleading. I don't really let peoples' negative opinions about me affect me. The question is directed at you. Why should you care about my image? Some are so quick to contribute in the destruction of a person. Emotionally. Physically. Publicly. Any way they can...without knowing the facts. Without knowing both sides, scratch that, ALL sides of the story. Because all that matters is what someone interprets over what was actually meant.
