"I already told you, i'm not spilling-"
Tom screeched as he earned an electric shock from the collar around his neck, tears springing into his nonexistent eyes.
"Come on, Thomas~ Just a little peep! You don't have to be scared as long as you tell me what Tord is planning," Edd purred.
"G-Gah.. holy..." Tom whimpered. His breathing was now coming in short gasps. "D-Didn't Paul tell you everything?"
"Yes, but I figured you're probably closer to him; after all, he most likely trusts you more than anyone else," the deadly man continued, walking back in forth slowly in front of Tom.
"B-But- he hasn't even planned anything else! Just let me go!" Tom cried out. All his dignity was lost, so there was no point in trying to keep his pride intact. "Please.."
Edd stopped his pacing. He rolled his chocolate-colored hues, huffing in annoyance like a child who didn't get what he wanted for Christmas. "I believe you. But that doesn't mean i'm letting you go," he leaned down into Tom's face. "And guess what, Tommy?"
Tom flinched, trying to even out his breathing. "Wh-What?"
Edd chuckled, his mouth now next to Tom's ear. "Tord won't come and save you. You know why? Because he and his little sad excuse of an army have no chance against me."
Hot breath sent shivers down Tom's spine. A nasty scowl came across his face, anger spilling over the top. "Burn in hell, you sack of-"
Before he could finish, a harsh shock shot through Tom. He yelled out in pain, his tied up arms jerking to the side. The rope scratched at his wrists, warm blood trailing down from the cuts.
"Think before you speak!" Edd took a small step back. A wide grin was set on his rounded face. "Have fun alone with your thoughts~!"
--At the Red Army Base--
Tord heard a knock at his office door. He threw the blood-soaked rag he was using to clean the walls into the trash can.
"Who is it?" he asked, sitting at his desk.
"It's Jade, sir," a female voice came from the other side.
Stifling a sigh, Tord rolled his eyes and said, "Come in."
A tall girl stepped in. The Red Army uniform hugged her curves. Her long black hair reached all the way down to her chest area. The bandage placed sloppily across her nose made her almost look childish, but her piercing blue eyes said otherwise.
"Yes, what is it?" Tord raised an eyebrow at her.
"I noticed Paul hasn't been around lately. I only saw him once yesterday, and now he's gone again. Sir, no disrespect, but doesn't this worry you?" Jade asked, a frown making its way on her face.
Tord let out a laugh, stomping his foot down as he did so. "Did you not here the screams?"
"I- Uh, I did, b-but I just assumed it was a prisoner, or-"
"That was Paul." The Norwegian cut her off, any trace of a smile now gone from his face. "He betrayed the Red Army, that's all."
Jade's body stiffened up in fear. "Uh.. what?"
"Oh, i'm sorry, do you need a fucking hearing aid?" Tord slammed a fist down on his desk. "Out of my office."
"Yes sir..." Jade said breathily, barely comprehending the new information she had received. She quickly walked out of the room and shut the door, heart racing.
Jade inhaled shakily, running a hand through her hair. She gathered herself together and brought her chin up, beginning to walk down the hallway. Knowing Pat would be completely heartbroken, she began heading to his room.
"Pat?" Jade called softly through the door, rapping on it three times. "You in there?"
There were the sounds of feet shuffling and a drawer slamming closed. "Yeah, uh, give me a moment."
"Alright," glad to know he was at least alive, Jade waited patiently.
Finally, the door opened. Pat stood there with a hand on the doorknob, his bangs shielding his eyes.
"You need anything?" he rasped, voice scratchy from not talking in a long while. Pat cleared his throat and tucked a strand of brown hair behind his ear.
"No, no. I just wanted to make sure you were okay," Jade gave him a soft smile. "I heard about Paul." She glanced over her shoulder and lowered her voice. "It's horrible what Red Leader did to him."
Pat inhaled sharply. He looked her straight in the eyes. "No, Jade. It's.. it's what I did to him."
She stared at him. "Um.. sorry, what?"
"I killed Paul," Pat choked back a sob. Tears were already welling in his eyes. "And- and frankly, I feel worse than I ever have before." He gulped. "You don't know how it feels t-to kill the love of your life. Just because some sick fuck told you to."
"You shouldn't speak of Red Leader like-"
"SHUT UP!" Pat screamed, stepping forward threateningly. A few soldiers stopped to look. "I don't give a crap for what Tord thinks anymore!" He curled his hands into fists, breathing heavily as tears rolled down his cheeks. "Paul is fucking dead because of me! Because of me, okay!? I was covered in his blood! I practically felt the crack of his skull as that cursed bullet shot right through it! Now leave me the hell alone!" Pat turned and walked back into the small room, slamming the door behind him.
Jade stood there, speechless. She began walking down the hallway silently.
