Prologue

"Happy B-day daddy" I said bringing out a wrapped gift and his cake.

"You didn't have to get me anything sweetie" he said smiling and ran his hands through my brunette hair.

"Well what are you waiting for? OPEN IT!" I said.

His fingers went in between the paper, easily tearing it apart.

"You got me a box" he said smiling at me.

"I wouldn't do that to you" I said as I sat down on the edge of the couch.

He opened the velvet box to reveal a golden watch.

"Johanna it's beautiful" he said putting it on.

"I'm glad you like it" I said hugging him.

"I will always wear it" he said. "Now I think it's time for you to go to bed after all of this gift-giving" he said.

"Alright" I said as I rolled my eyes and dragged my blankets half way to my room when I was suddenly stopped by my fathers voice.

"Your mother would've been proud" he said. I smiled and proceeded to bed.

I woke up, seeing the light of the television and the sound of the news.

"Dad?" I called. I heard no response.

I walked into his bedroom watching Levine Joey preach about the news.

We are here at Birchwood's power plant where a certain toxin has escaped it's tank, causing the power plant to become unstable. Workers immediately put on gas mask as soon as they saw the horrible tragedy.

Hey what are you doing get OUT! a worker said. Green liquid started to leak everywhere.

"Johanna, what are you still doing up? Never mind, we've got to go".

"Where?"

"Somewhere, anywhere other than here"

He packed a bag for me and him and headed towards the door.

"Get in the truck, quickly were running out of time" he said.

" Dad what is that?" I said pointing at a limping man.

"No time for driving" he said under his breath.

"Johanna you take off running, do you understand?"

"But, what's going to happen to yo-"

"I'll be fine" he said as he kissed my forehead.

"Now go" he said.

I jumped out and ran until I spotted a blue house in the distance. I had to keep pep talking myself, my dad was going to be alright, he's going to be ok... I thought this until I heard a man scream.

"DAD" I said and started running towards him.

He had a huge bite mark on his neck. I kneeled beside him.

"Are you going to be able to stay with me?" I said as tears streamed down my face.

"Your going to be ok Johanna, I'll always be with you" he said grabbing my cheek.

"You can't go" I said burying my face into his chest.

"Look, Johanna you need to do something" he barely choked out.

"Anything" I said.

"I need you to shoot me" he said.

"No I-I can't" I said.

He handed me a revolver.

"The transformation is almost complete, you have to, your mother would be proud" he said.

I stood up and pointed the gun towards his forehead.

"I love you daddy"

"I love you too"

I closed my eyes and took a few deep breaths before I got enough courage to let it go. I pushed in the trigger to destroy what my father was going to become. There's only one thing I know, get to the blue house and get to it NOW.
