Annabeth winced from the burning pain in her sides. Her smoky crystal eyes scrunched together as though she swallowed a sour lemon.
She lifted up her shirt slowly, gulping down the brutal sensation. Peeking one of her eyes open to witness the flesh, black and blue. Seriously bruised and swollen, she was honestly seeing colours you would never find on you skin. It was honestly like Crayola pens had drawn all over her.
She slowly walked to her drawers filled with her clothes and necessities. Grabbing out a baggy camp half blood shirt and track-pants she left to grab the scraps from breakfast. But Chiron always saved something good for her and for that she was grateful.
Nearing the swarm of demigods dread surfaced. A tight knot formed in my dry throat, an unknown commotion was the gossip of the camp.
She deemed it wasn't unusual for new arrivals, but this only picked her attention as he defeated a Minotaur.
How interesting, she thought.
The moment it passed another replied in arrogance.
"If we were given the chance we could kill everyone, even the gods," it boasted.
Her eyes visibly widened. No one could defeat them as they lived in immortality, only destroyed by each other. But that wasn't going to happen any time soon.
"Yes my child, sooner than you think," it hissed.
She shuddered in the feeling of a deathly presence. It reminded her of a slithering snake.
She ignored it and turned around forgetting about her meal. It was near the time of the usual gathering, where a selected few were chosen to go on quests. She had never been into the outside world, like a captive bird locked away in its confining cage, longing for freedom.
Taking her spot up on the roof, gazing down on her peers in fear and anger.
Why couldn't she fit in? How was she different from others?
Her fists clenched digging her stumpy nails into her flesh. Teeth grinding together, her blonde tresses falling in front of her face. Shielding her away from the world.
One day, I will be known! In admiration or fear, it didn't matter, she vowed.
Distracting her from her thoughts, the voice of one of the leaders. It was the same old procedure, boring and repetitive.
An announcement was voiced that there was going to be a game of "Capture the Flag"
Great, she thought. Full aware that everyone had to participate, much to her disappointment.
Walking back to her cabin she stumbled into someone. As she fell her eyes snapped open and connected with a pair of sea green eyes.
Her imagination went straight to the sea, but it wasn't pleasant as it felt as though she was drowning from the searing pain in her sides.
She quickly scramble of him the moment his back hit the dirt.
"I am so sorry," she blurted.
Her panicked face flamed crimson as she looked at the boy. No doubt they were the same age.
He slowly got off the ground wiping the dirt of him. He was intrigued by this girl.
"Calculating," he stated while staring directly into her eyes.
Annabeth's eyebrows creased in confusion as she cocked her hair to the side. Which made her hair fall with it.
"Excuse me?" she questioned, obviously not knowing what he was talking about.
