KARMA |

slipping in white sneakers, karma leaves his house and walks the route he usually takes to get to kunugigaoka junior high. he has to walk some streets to get to the train station, and it takes more than ten minutes. at the train station, he has to be a good member of society and fight the urge to push away the entire line in front of him to buy train tickets.

morning was the time the adults left their homes to get to work, so the long line ahead was reasonable. the redhead waited for a few more minutes, since the machine used for buying the tickets was malfunctioning a bit.

he was getting impatient, but a man who was sent from god told him that there was another machine but with a shorter line. karma didn't bother to thank him, but was still really grateful anyway, and went to the other line. he only waited for a minute, and he bought his ticket. after passing through barriers and getting his ticket back, karma went down the escalator to go to the train, and he was just in time.

watching the city flash before his eyes was honestly one of the best things karma had ever done, in his opinion. he always enjoyed the train rides to school and back home because of this. however, the slight bit of happiness he had faded away, as the train went to a stop, his grip on the dangling handles loosening itself. karma left the train once he heard the name of this subway, and ran up the stairs.

why was he in such a rush? he didn't know either. it must've just been his instinct to be quick. after walking for some minutes, he was out of the train station and looking for that café near the school. he checked through the glass windows to see who he was going to talk to, and also trying to recall the café's name.

swearing he'll kick that bastard who decided to meet in this café he was still looking for, karma barged into the last place he hoped she was. "hi, karma!" a slightly shrill voice alerts him, and the source sat in one of the booths, clad in a white dress with a denim jacket over.

"goddammit, kayano, why here? of all the fucking places?" was the first thing karma asked. "it took me forever to find it." he walks over to the booth, dragging out the vacant chair in front of kaede, who was currently tying her long green hair into a ponytail.

"i really love what they serve here. also, i remember telling you the name of this café. you should remember!" she smiles, sipping her tea from a cup. i didn't forget it, i just didn't care about it at all, karma thinks to himself after getting a menu from one of the waiters.
"yeah, i'll take this." he pointed at a certain drink in the menu.

"so, karma, what did you wanna tell me today?" she asks before shoving a spoonful of vanilla pudding into her mouth. karma takes a deep breath, resting his elbows on the table, and he watches as the waiter serves his drink in a mug, along with a plated sandwich.
"do you wanna know what happened to nagisa?" he asks. kaede stops eating her dessert once he asked her that, and she puts down her teaspoon on the plate.
"please, do tell," she says, smile still curving her lips, even if her voice made her worry evident. another deep breath karma takes again, and right now he really doesn't want to beat around the bush.

"he was attacked by a werewolf," he stated nonchalantly, taking a sip of his coffee afterwards. a silence lingers in the booth for a moment, but kaede's question kills it.
"wait, he— what?" karma swore he saw her choking on tea. kaede quickly places her cup on top of the saucer, eyes widened in shock. karma sighs, rather irritatedly.
"do i have to repeat myself? nagisa got his ass kicked by a—"
