Into the unknown void, a new world

Chapter 1, A new world, a new home

I was looking through my window as we passed by, incredible, almost a complete replica of earth, it's a shame we wouldn't be landing on that side. Nasa has already sent Robots to test the surface. the only reason we are coming at all is that they couldn't send them to the other side. fun, we are the first people to explore a new planet in 30 years, and we are exploring a deep dark pit of no one knows, well first anyway we are still visiting the light side but we have to go to the dark side, or as we call it, the pit, first, but no one really cares about that, we just want to see a brand new fresh world after living on earth. Personally, I think 10 people on an exploration party is overkill but it's better to have more people than we need than less. 

Alex burst into my room (scaring the life out of me) without knocking and before I could say anything he excitedly burst out 'group meeting in 5 dining room' then shut the door, 'knock next time!' I shouted. thankfully I'm going to be on the initial drop, while the captain organizes the mission from above, but the crew members that aren't on the initial drop arent too disappointed considering it will be pitch black besides the light being produced by the torches on our helmets. well, guess I better get to that meeting.
