Jade's POV
"Jade?" I heard her call out, "Jadey?"
I pulled the blanket over my head in a desperate attempt to block out her voice, her concern, her presence. Clutching my legs to my chest, I tried to steady my breathing. I had finally managed to dry my tears, but human interaction would surely make me break down again.
It was lonely underneath the sheets, but at least I didn't have to share them with an ungrateful boyfriend.
Perrie knocked on my door and called out again, "Jade, baba, I got your text. Let me in!"
Having to talk about it would definitely mean more tears. I wanted to block it all out, yet Perrie had a way of making everything better.
I took a deep breath, "the door's unlocked Pez."
She entered and flicked on the light.
Perrie's POV:
Jade was hiding beneath the blankets and her voice sounded thick from crying. It broke my heart to see her like this. A wave of protectiveness washed over me, and I found myself standing over her bed, throwing the blankets off her and pulling her up into a hug.
I felt her hot breath on my shoulder as I stroked her tangled hair, trying to make her feel at least a little better. A wet patch of tears began to form on my shirt as I rubbed her back. Jade relaxed against me and I held her up, feeling her spine through her thin nightshirt. She pulled away from me and shivered.
"Baby, tell me what happened" I said, leading her to her living room.
She sat on the beige couch and looked up at me, her big brown eyes brimming with tears. I rubbed my thumbs over the back of her hand, hoping it would comfort her. "Shh, Jadey, I'm right here for you" I said, trying to be as gentle as possible. "Do you want to tell me what happened?" I whispered.
"He said he couldn't make it work and that we lost our spark and our relationship is no longer special and there's some other girl he fancies..." The words tumbled out of her mouth as fast as the tears cascaded down her face.
Anger threatened to take over my body but I pushed it back. I just reached for Jade's hand.
"If he doesn't see what an amazing person you are, it's his problem. He's the one missing out on you, and I bet you're the best girlfriend ever!"
Jade's POV:
Her words bounced around in my head for a while but I pushed them away.
"Perrie, it's quite obvious that I'm not the greatest girlfriend." I said bitterly. "Look at my track record. A guy I've been with for a year and a half just dumped me for somebody else, even when I gave this relationship everything." My voice cracked and I could feel the stabbing pain in my chest return.
Perrie simply pulled me into her arms and wiped the tears from my cheeks. "You just haven't been with the right people, baby."
