when they were done shaking their hands, haneul tried to let go but minhyun just gripped her hand tighter and looked into her eyes.

she felt really uncomfortable with his deadly stare and his grip, so she cleared her throat loudly for him to notice what was he doing.

then he realised his actions, he immediately released his hand from haneul's. the atmosphere was really, may I correct it, horribly awkward.

"why-"

"wow-"

they both said in unison. they looked at each other awkwardly again and let out a small laugh.

"ladies first," he said.

"why did you turn off the speakers and the mic?" she eyed him confusedly with her arms crossed.

he chuckled and smiled.

God, that beautiful chuckle of his sounded like an absolute masterpiece of music to her. and his smile made her felt like she was in heaven.

"don't you get tired of being humiliated by the public? you really still want to perform after them shamelessly freaking gossiped in front of your own eyes? like everytime you walk out of the school, people will whisper to each other. people will do that and this. don't you just want to smack their heads for being a total douchebag?"

she was surprised that he didn't even hesitate to call them douchebag, instead he just let it out.

the reason why you were suprised was because whenever you talked this issue to someone, they'd say

"it's okay, maybe they were just surprised seeing the school's trouble maker,"

... that answer never really helped her.

"woah, okay, I mean they don't really reach until the title of douchebag. but, I think I'll just let it go. it's not worth of fighting, it's not worth of anything. and, have you ever heard the quote 'Everything happens for a reason'?"

"yes?"

"I have my own reason too," she smiled while looking to the front, she saw children playing happily. all smiley, looked like they had no pains. no anything but a smile plastered on their faces, she wished the kids were her. she wanted to turn back time and just be like them.

minhyun looked to the direction she was looking at, he felt her sudden change of mood so he felt absolutely guilty, and he'd do anything just to see her smile again.

"by the way, what were you going to say to me?" haneul asked him.

"it's just that, I can't believe the school's troublemaker have a really soft spot in her heart,"

"of course I still have soft spot in my heart, I do this because I have my own reason," she absolutely faked a smile. she really forced herself to be her own happy and energetic self, but minhyun knew all of her happiness and smiles were fake.

haneul was shut and quiet, and she was not the type to be quiet even in any occasions.

he rubbed his chin while thinking what to do to make haneul smile. she noticed him doing that and let out a small laugh.

"you looked like my dad-" she stopped in the midway of the sentence, she didn't want to hear that word anymore. that name rang a bell of absolute bad memories, and she never wanted to hear the word mom in her life either.

"let's go to the cafe nearby! it's a newly open cafe, and I heard they make really good cakes and beverages!" he said.

haneul was happy that he didn't ask any questions regarding of his father, so she nodded and went along with minhyun.
