2 Weeks before...
"ALEX GET UP. YOU'RE GOING TO BE LATE" Mum screamed from the kitchen
"Coming mum"
"That makes it the 4th time you've said it, come on Alex" She's not in the kitchen now, she's in my room.
"Fine. Be right there" I said when she pulled my covers.
I dragged myself to the shower hoping it would wake me up. Brushed my teeth and attempted to calm my long curly hair. I walked in my room oblivious to the person sitting on my bed.
"Well you look like a bright ray of sunshine don't ya" Raya said with a laugh
"Thanks friend" I replied
"Come one Al we're going to be late. First day of school is for new beginnings don't forget that" She said with a singing voice
Raya is the preppy one. The kind of person who never wears the same outfit twice. Her straight brown hair always styled just the right way. The one who always drags us to dances. Her favourite hobby is to make me her own personal doll.
I grab a pair of jeans a hold up a white shirt with flowers for Raya to approve. She didn't of course. Instead, she threw me a paper bag which contained a blue tank top with lace like straps.
"When I saw it I knew it would be perfect for you. It matches your eyes perfectly." She exclaimed.
To be fare it isn't completely horrible. Saves me the trouble of trying to find a decent shirt at least
"Can I do your hair? Please please please!" Raya said with a pout. Right, like I have a choice. She didn't even let me answer. Before I could turn to say I like my hair just the way it is, the tugging and pulling had already started.
After what seemed like forever she stepped back, a proud look on her face.
"All done"
"Thanks" I said without even stopping to check it out in the mirror. She can be a tad annoying sometimes but don't get me wrong. She's good at what she does and I trust that.
We went downstairs for breakfast. Mum always goes all out on the first day of school. Eggs, bacon, toast...... Raya and I ate up and walked out the door to a rainy day.
"Pineville High here we come" Raya said while skipping to the car.
