"Nobody knows, nobody sees, we are a secret, can't be exposed."
Listen to Uncover by Zara Larsson.................................................................................
The next day I woke up with a splitting head ache. Naturally with all the crap going on last night. Still I went to school because I didn't want to talk to my parents. I knew I would explode with anger.
At school, I met Iskender in the hallway. He ignored me, like we were strangers, and I was glad to do the same. He still didn't know I knew and it would stay that way. I met Seth and Zach.
We hung out. I was bored, really bored so we three started to plot some havoc for Fabian's double period.
We were in the play ground talking about what could we possibly do to make him lose his mind when Nathan and Samanatha pranced by.
Nathan glanced at me and looked away while Samanatha looked at me smugly. I had a sudden desire to laugh so I snorted. She stopped in her tracks.
"Were you laughing at us?" She asked, her arms crossed over her chest.
"Yes I was." I smiled upto them.
"Why? Cause you couldn't beat me?" She said, snaking her arm around Nathan. Ouch."Oh thats not quite it.You see,we broke up because I don't compete with hoes." I replied. This was no lie. Samantha had more boyfriends than the number of clothes in her closet. And she was crazy about clothes.
Seth and Zach doubled over, laughing their heads off while Samanatha stared at me in anger. Nathan tried to say something but she stopped him and stalked off saying I would pay for this. I didn't give a damn.
We made a glorious plan to wreck Fabian's period. Our whole class was in on it and would collaborate. Ahh, I loved our team work. Iskender was in his corner as usual, engrossed with his head phones and eyes closed. He lacked spirit, I sensed. Or maybe this was just one of his major moodswings.
Fabian came in, drawling about disobedient students as usual. He turned to the board and wrote "Organic Chemistry".
Right then Seth shouted "fire!" and a dozen people threw packets of ketchup onto the two ceiling fans. Instantly, ketchup shot out everywhere, on our tables, bags, floor and ourselves.
But it didn't matter because Fabian was a glorious sight. He had been standing closest to the fans and his head was covered in ketchup like bird poop. It was streaming down his face into his eyelashes. His white shirt was stained already. He stood there spluttering, shocked and in a fine rage.
He walked out of the class room and didn't return. We all started laughing and a couple of people told Zach, Seth and I that the plan had been perfect. Iskender just kept staring out of the window unimpressed. Not that I cared. He was always like this in class.
Just then Fabian strode in, with the Principal in his wake. He was still in the same ketchup-stained condition as before. The din quitened down.
Now our principal, Mr Watary whom we called Princie amongst ourselves, wasn't like Fabian. Nothing like him at all. He was in fact very kind and understanding. He treated us like our own children. I really liked him.
He was standing there, surveying our class, his slightly aged face looking disappointed.
" Do you know who did all of this?" He asked to Fabian.Fabian nodded smugly. Then he pointed at all of us.
"All of them?" Mr Watari asked, his eyebrows raised. Fabian nodded again.
"Okay. You can go. I will deal with this." Mr Watari instructed Fabian. Fabian clearly wanted to linger, but didn't argue with Princie.
And then Mr Watari gave us a long long lecture on respect of teachers, our role as students and such. But since he was so understanding we told him all about Fabian's nastiness and sour personality.
Mr Watari laughed hearing us complain like that and told us to be patient and endure. Fabian was also a human after all.
He didn't know the depth of our rivalry with Fabian.
He told us to clean the mess we had made and didn't give us any detention at all. We felt a little ashamed after that.
Soon the sweepers came and gave us a mop and some detergent and we were all scrubbing away except Iskender.
That pissed me off. I went up to him and demanded he help us out too.
"I don't want to." He said, his eyes still closed.
I was suddenly reminded of our awful relation and how unreal it seemed.
I wanted to smack him right there and smash his headphones against the window.
He stood up tidying up his things and got ready to leave. I wasn't going to stand there and watch him leave like that so I grabbed his arm and pulled him towards the mop and bucket.
He didn't budge but I lost my momentum and slipped on the detergent. He instantly swung around and I landed in his arms. The whole class oohed and ahhed. I cringed away from him after gaining my balance. Why was I so clumsy? Why oh why?
"What a romantic cliche." smirked Zach. I just got angrier and angrier at Iskender. Romantic my ass! He should have let me fall. But first I picked up the bucket of water and doused Zach from head to foot.
