Tick, tock. Tick, tock. Tick, tock. My eyes watched the clock impatiently, waiting for the last few minutes of the entire school year come to a close. The anticipation was killing me. I was so ready for summer.

I bit my lip, tapping my pencil and leg. Just three minutes left until i am no longer in high school. Just three minutes left until i become a freshman in college. So much excitement and nervousness ran through me all at once.

"Uh, hello?"

I snapped out of the hypnotizing clock and looked at Mallerie, one of my best friends. She smacked her gum in annoyance and examined her manicured nails. She glanced back up and looked at me with her fiery green eyes.

"Did you not hear me?" She asked.

"Uh, no.." I said softly.

She gave a quiet sigh, "I asked if you're ready too."

"Ready for what?"

"For summer, duh!" Mallerie smiled, flashing her pearly white teeth.

"Oh," I had completely spaced out."Yeah, i'm so beyond ready."

Mallerie smiled and turned her attention to her boyfriend, Mathew. Mallerie was rather stuck up and prissy, but she's got some good qualities to her. She had fire engine red hair and bright green eyes.

People think her hair is dyed, but honestly, it's her natural hair color. She has a galaxy full of freckles along her body. And she's rather frail, which is why her and Mathew make an odd couple. Mathew has got to be the whitest guy i know. He has jet black hair and dull blue eyes. But he is rather muscular. I guess that happens when you're in wrestling for six years.

I turned my attention back to the clock and tapped my foot again. Just one. More. Minute. I put my pencil and notebook back in my backpack, getting prepared for the bell to-

"Summer!" Shouted Mallerie.

I didn't hear the bell ring, but everyone began to run out of our English class. Mallerie does have a big mouth, so i wasn't surprised about not hearing the bell ring. I grabbed my backpack and rushed out of the door.

I walked fast to get outside of the school and into my car. I was so ready to stay up all night and watch Disney movies with my cat, Bonaparte. And Sherlock Holmes marathons, of course. So many opportunities to waste my summer with endless amazing movies and TV shows.

When i got home, i dropped my backpack on the floor and rushed into the living room. I collapsed onto the couch and gave a big relieving sigh. I wiggled my shoes off and grabbed the remote. Time to watch Disney in peace.

"Brielle, is that you? Come in here, please! I need help icing this cake."

I grunted in annoyance. "But, Walt's greatest creation in animation is about to appear on the screen for millions to see!"

"Well, pause Walt's greatest creation in animation and help me ice this cake. We can both enjoy his awesomeness." My mother said in the kitchen.

I sighed in defeat and pressed pause. I lazily got up and combed my tangled curls with my fingers. If i'm icing this dang cake, i better get a piece of it. Mom knows how much i adore cake.

"Thank you, sweetie," My mother calmly said.

"Do i get a piece of this cake, mom?" I asked.

"Well," My mom said hesitantly."Yes, you do get a piece but this cake is actually for your dad when he gets home."

"Awe man, how come?"

"Because, it's his birthday, remember?"

"Oh man, i totally forgot." I was so distracted with school that i forgot it was dad's birthday.
