The decision

My leg taps a million miles an hour as I sit and wait for Mr. Sanchez to start talking.
Marc puts his hand on my knee to calm me down.
"Look," Sanchez sits his briefcase down on the table, causing me to jump. "You're smart people. So I'll just come out and say it... I didn't know you too are in a serious relationship. And I'm concerned about how it will effect your job performance." He crosses his arms and eyes me sternly.
My body trembles as his words echo in my head.
"Am I being fired because Marc proposed?" I ask.
"I was unaware of our relationship with Ter Stegen was so serious and when all the congratulation posts starting surfaces from the team, the board caught on. You didn't see if it was ok, and now it looks as though your job performance is being evaluated."
"Sir! What could be evaluated? I lead the media department, not the coaching staff."
"You deal with sponsorships and related topics, if being with Mr. Ter Stegen has caused him to get special treatment, including extra sponsorships or more photos on the page or anything to boost his career, then you could be looking at termination."
"Sir. In all do respect, how could you measure this? He's a regular starter so of course he'll get more posts or publicity than a bench warmer."
"We treat all of our players with the same respect Ms. Marks."
I hold back a scoff, "I've seen Messi's paycheck," I mumble.
He glares at me but doesn't fire back.
"Sir, please. Nothing in my personal life effects my work. I love my job. I'm here everyday on time, the club has gained 2.5 million followers since I started running the account and I've helped several of our players achieve better sponsors and followers of their own, in turn helping out the team."
He holds a hand up, "I understand that. I really do. I'm on your side. I think, honestly, you and Marc seem to work well together. But the board may see it differently. I'll put my two cents in. But I want you to know that if it comes down to it, they won't keep you over him."

"Sir!" Marc jumps in, finally coming out of his dumbfounded state.

"No, please Marc." Sanchez holds a hand up. "Don't say something you'll regret."
