"You know Fred, why are we protecting this house?"
"Because George. The boss told us to."
"Yeah, but why? The only people that live here are that old woman and her daughter. You know, the Carsons."
"Yeah I know. But they recently had a victim of the Joey murders lately, so we are protecting them in case that bastard tries to... attack... them." The police officer slumped over, his speech trailing off into nothing.
"Hey Fred, you okay?" The other officer looks over, his eyes widening slowly as he notices the long, dark blade, dripping with his partners blood, driven through the other mans' chest. "Hey! Fred! Stay with me!" The man yells out, shaking his partner by the shoulders before letting go and looking around, his eyes frantically searching for the person who murdered the officer he worked with. "Who are you? Where are you?"
"I'm right here." An evil voice sounds from behind him, and he sees the movement of a shadow behind him, sitting in the back seat. "Time to say goodnight." Another evil laugh rings through the night as the man screams, another blade flying towards his neck before impaling itself in his throat, cutting off his airway. A second blade flies from the darkness as the man chokes for air, the tip burying itself in the mans' forehead, his movement slowing down, before stopping altogether, his scream cutting off with a squelch, a splatter of blood, and a manic laugh.
A knock echoes through the house, the night dark, the streets illuminated with streetlights, seeming to float above the ground. Knock Knock Knock. The knocking rings out once more, long hard pounds on the wooden door.
"I'm coming I'm coming." A voice calls from inside, before the door is unlocked once more, swinging inwards silently. "How can I help you?" Jen Carson appears in the doorway, looking up at a tall man, not noticing the knives strapped to his body all over the place, or the dead police officers in the car behind him. The man bends down slowly, nearing Jens face, his own clouded with darkness, only his manic grin visible to the young woman. The man laughs nearly silently, before opening his mouth and leaning into her ear.
"Follow my instructions like a good little girl." The man speaks up, Jen trying to step back, finding herself unable to move, her heart beating like a drum. She could feel the pressure and blood lust emanating off the man in waves, locking her into a spot. "And die." A blade pierced her abdomen, and she felt the pain scream through her body, as if it was flames burning away at her insides. She let out a scream, falling to her knees as the man pulls the blade out, squatting down to look her in the face "Jen Jen Jen. Who said you could sit down?" He raises the blade above him and brings it down, plunging it into her shoulder, the hilt colliding against her. She let out another scream as he yanked it out again, collapsing to the floor, clutching her shoulder and stomach, her blood slowly staining the carpet red.
"Jen. What's with all the screaming? Has something happened?" Another voice speaks up from further into the house as Sydney turns the corner, seeing the blood splattered man and her bleeding daughter on the floor. The man looks up at her, his grin widening and a manic laugh starting to escape his lips. Sydney screamed again and turned, running through the house towards the kitchen as fast as she could.
"Joey's coming to get you." The mans' voice echoes through the house, and she can feel his bloodlust curling around the corner and crawling along the corridor as she runs into the kitchen, grabbing one of the kitchen knives and spinning around to face her attacker.
"No no no. You're doing it all wrong darling." The voice echoes out again, heavy footfalls following her into the kitchen, the grin on his face unwavering. He lets out another laugh, reaching behind him and drawing another knife. The blade is long, thick and black, and the edge of it looks like it could cut without any resistance. "This is how you use a knife." The man darts forwards in the blink of an eye, Sydneys knife knocked out of her hand, the man holding his knife up to her throat, his grin widening even further. "Just like that."
With a spin, he turns towards the entrance again, his knife slicing through Sydneys throat with ease, blood bubbling through her open neck and spilling onto the floor. She collapses to the floor, her eyes already lifeless, her body already cooling down.
The man walks through the corridors again, seeing Jen crawl over to her phone, holding it up to her ear after a moment.
"Help me! There is a murderer in my house! He's already killed-" Her voice ended in another scream, the long black blade buried in her back, the man reaching down and grabbing the phone, holding it up to his ear, hearing the person on the other end panic after the scream.
"Ahem. Greetings, puny mortal. I am a god, blah blah blah, heavens judgement, blah blah blah. None of that" The man grins once more as the person on the phone falls silent. "The Carsons are dead. Tell anyone that asks. Joey was here." He drops the phone to the ground, leaning down to pull his knife out of Jens back, sliding up from the bottom of her shirt, slicing it open in a clean cut. Starting from the base of her neck, he slices down her spine, hearing her scream beneath him. He laughs manically again, standing up and walking away, coming back a moment later. He picks her up by her neck, pinning her to the wall, her torn shirt falling to the ground.
"Goodbye, Jen Carson." He drives a knife into her hand and through it into the wall beyond, repeating the process with both her hands and feet, her screams echoing through the night. With a grin once more, and insane laughter echoing through the house, mixing with the screams of the young woman in front of him, he reaches out, grabbing her head and twisting it sideways, snapping her neck.
The house falls silent, the ticking of the clocks the only sound to be heard. With another grin, and another eccentric laugh ringing out in the night. The man turns, walking out of the house, before running down the street, and disappearing into the darkness.
