I don't notice as a cup of coffee is put on my kitchen counter. I am staring at absolutely nothing. I'm oblivious to coffee. That rings alarm bells in my friend's head.
"Either you've had too many of this or you have a lot on your mind," she says. "I'd say the latter is the case."
She knows me too much.
"We fought again. I don't even know what we are fighting about these days. I just go off and he retaliates. I think we're changing. We are drifting apart," I say.
"Dee," she says. The pity in her eyes is annoying me. "You need to talk to him again, calmly. Tell him your fears."
