It was a long day, emotionally. The Uchiha family had just returned home after defeating the clones of Shin Uchiha and Sasuke had come upon the realization that he needed to spend some time with his family. He did miss them. Everyday. But for their safety he needed to stay away from the village. There was a time, few years post Sarada's birth, when it seemed that everything was fine. He spend a few years with his wife and daughter in their house. But that period was short lived. He had to return to his journeys to find and fight off the descendants of Kaguya. If it was a matter of mortal beings, he would have never abandoned his home. But it was a matter of Gods here. It was a matter of the existence of the whole world.

It was the husband and wife post dinner conversation after Sarada has peacefully slept in her room. The parents of the child had braced themselves to be bombarded with questions whole night regarding her father's absence but Sarada was relatively quite and just happy that her dad was around. The poor child was also guilty of accusing her mother of not being her mother. She quickly left for dinner after kissing her parents good night.

"She's an Uchiha. Besides, you did raise her too Sasuke-kun. You just could not be there for the past few years... But she understands now. You are always connected to us by feelings. Isn't that what you told me before leaving the last time?"

Sasuke looked at his wife. She had just come out from the shower and was now changing into her night clothes. The warm breeze from the window was making her wet hair flow gently over her face. She looked beautiful. She always looked beautiful. Her slender figure has now developed into a more curvy figure but her skin was as pale and smooth as ever. Sakura quickly changed into a white synthetic Yukata with beautiful light pink sakura design on it. She usually did not wear yukata in the night but this was the last moment arrangement Shizune could do for them after Sakura had accidentally destroyed their previous house. She also got a dark navy blue Yukata for Sasuke while his travel clothes were put out for wash. This whole dress up reminded him of their wedding night. She looked beautiful that day also. But he quickly dismissed his thoughts after realizing that Sakura must be too tired after their fight today. He then heard her talking about their daughter. The little kid he left in her arms. She had cried the day when she found out that he would be leaving the both of them for an indefinite amount of time. It was that time when he had assured her that they would always be connected to him by feelings. However, Sasuke himself was ashamed of what their daughter had to go through because of him. If it were not for Sakura, Sarada would not have been so understanding of the situation as she was now. Sakura was truly a great mother to their child. He was proud of her. He realized that he might have been a failure as a father.

"I could not recognize her face, I thought she was one of Shin's clone. I...pulled out my Katana at her, as soon as I saw her eyes. I... did not know about the sharingan... I never wanted my child to have those eyes", he said to his wife with a guilt-ridden face.

Sakura eyes softened after listening to her husband's words. She did not blame Sasuke for anything that Sarada had to go through. She knew he was doing this for them more than anything. She knew he would do everything in his hand to protect his family. She knew that he loved them with all his heart even though he rarely shows it.

"Well, children grow fast", she tried to stall the topic. She went to sit on the bed near her husband. "Anata... please don't be so hard on yourself. Sarada understands now. Even if she does not completely gets what you are doing, the day she will get it, she will be proud of you even more."

"Sakura...", Sasuke knew Sakura was stalling him. This was something really important and yet Sakura was not telling him the whole story. He did not want his daughter to have those eyes in the first place, but if she did... he wanted to know when and how. Sakura would not hide such a thing... unless -
