Rock Hard

Chapter 1

You see it in movies you see it on TV shows just a teenage girl having just drama and drama and DRAMA pushed on her and you just think that will never happen to me. But people don't see right in their faces look in their eyes to see something's wrong with them a family member a friend till it's just a smack in their face.

All I saw was a tint of morning sunlight going through my blinds. I turned my head over and snuggled in my jean jacket I had for 2 years now. I tried to fall back asleep but I tossed and turned on my mattress trying to find a comfy spot on this lumpy thing. I opened my a bit and groaned and muttered to myself "ok I'm up" and rolled off my mattress onto the cold floor. I sat up and rubbed my eyes and looked around nothing but an old room that was white but now has tints of yellow and brown from each corner and one window with busted up blinds. I got up and went through my 'closet' and grabbed a pair or faded jeans and a white t-shirt. I put my converse on and sneaked softly to the bathroom not wanting to wake someone up. All I thought was don't wake him up just don't wake him up. I got in the bathroom and looked in the nasty mirror and grabbed a wash cloth and wiped the mirror down. I had faded scar from my eye down my eye to my jaw bone. I grabbed a bit of foundation and put it on the scar gently. I hated getting questioned not wanting anyone to see that my 'happy family' is just a façade. I put on a bit of mascara and eyeliner.

I heard and grumble from the room next door and stopped and my heart was just beating fast and I made no movement or noise...not even breathe. I waited and finished up combing my hair and opened the window gently and sneaked out. I grabbed a tree branch and step by step carefully down my roof to the grass. Now you must think I'm in the clear not yet I need to get out the backyard and I'll be home free. I walked not stepping on a twig or anything. I climbed over my fence and just ran down the sidewalk to Carl's Auto Repair. The best place I can get away and see some good friends. I walked in and smiled seeing Lucas and sat on the counter.

Lucas is a good friend of mine he has these brown wavy hair with a little curl in the hanged out on his forehead . He did it because it made him look like Superman. He was a big nerd but it made him look like one of the cool nerds the ones you want to date and hang. He was around 17 turning 18. He always was cleaned shaved not a hair on his chinny chin chin of him. I poked his nose and he scrunched his nose up his nostrils rounding a bit. That was his signature that showed how he smiled. Who wouldn't blame him though I mean losing his mom from the army is tough. He's a tough guy though was broad shouldered and muscled. But you can't see them much only in summer which is rare around Connecticut we either got rain, snow, or strong winds. But when summer comes which last only 3 months its very humid and you just feel sticky and just not wanted to be touched. But Lucas never let it bothered him. He was wearing a tank top and ripped up jeans and boots that was signature look. He worked 2 jobs here and at the grocery store on the weekends. But it didn't bug him he always looked at positives of everything. Even though work is hard his parents are starting to show him what the real world is like such as paying rent at the end of the week. I twiddled with my fingers knowing he's busy doing his job.

"Maddie something bugging you?" he asked looking at me with his deep brown eyes

I looked at him and shook my head "I'm fine Luke I just woke up that's all" and gave a small smile

Luke took out a protein bar out of his bag and handed it to me. He always knew something was not right and knew how to fix it. I took it softly and opened the wrapper. Problem is I hated being watched while I ate so I engulfed that protein bar without even tasting it. Luke shook his head and rubs my head and headed back to counting the money. I looked at the door and saw Toby walking and like all lights were on him.
