I patiently await for Amber to calm down as I scrutinize her carefully, watching her start to fume angrily. It always seemed to make me so irritated that people would get so flustered when they were around me, all because of my amnesia. Of course at the time I had no confirmation that I actually had it, but I could tell that I was forgetting something profoundly important. I was able to notice the unhappiness of my friends and family. Even my family who never really used to visit me, did. I could tell that they were worried too.
"I can't tell you unless you figure it out all on your own. Otherwise, if I did you wouldn't understand t-the feelings that you used to feel a while ago." she says while looking down at her paper as I can see tears falling down and dispersing onto the paper. I look down at the ground and then I sigh giving into defeat (A/N: For now. *Rolls eyes*). "Alright. Fine you win, for now at least." I say with a mischievous smirk on my face. She smiles and giggles a bit, and I sigh with relief, though I'm not too sure why I felt very relieved. Of course, I don't like seeing girls, or anyone for that matter; crying. It makes me feel very remorseful, even if I wasn't the one that caused it. I always feel like it's my duty to try and cheer them up and tell them that everything will be okay.
"Hey, I'm going to go play with Marielle a little bit more before we leave. Can I get your phone number?" I ask curiously. "Sure, of course." She says with a cheeky smile. She tells me the number and of course I know her name, but strangely enough it's already saved in my contacts. I brush this discovery aside because I intend to help Marielle enjoy the rest of her birthday to the fullest. And very well we both did. We played tag, I pushed her on the swings, and we played a lot of fun games! When we got tired, we sat on the bench and I got us some ice cream! Then we decide to leave after that, because clearly, both of us are fatigued already!
Once again, when I enter the car I persistently and carefully search to make sure that Marielle's seat-belt is securely strapped into the seat-belt buckle. I really enjoyed the day today, even as "old" as I am to be playing things like this with a child. But I'm happy to do so as long as she's happy! Marielle turns randomly to me and says "Daddy when I grow up I wanna marry you! So don't marry Amber even though she's super pretty! Okay!" she says while giggling. I chuckle for a few seconds and say, "Sure thing pumpkin." Of course I couldn't explain the wrongness in what she said, because she's merely a child. She wouldn't understand that we could never be. Of course it wouldn't only be me to notice how pretty Amber is. Though I know I shouldn't be thinking like that. After all, we're merely friends. Nothing more, or were we? All these things puzzle my mind as I feel myself getting more and more anxious by the minute. But I quickly shove these thoughts aside so I can focus on driving and get home safely as well as soon. Nevertheless, I finally stopped thinking about her and returned to my normal thoughts of making Marielle's birthday special.
As soon as we arrive at the house I told her that the one (big) gift I'm giving her is ready when we get inside. Usually we open the small presents the previous day before her birthday. I watch as she stares at the present with anxiety and excitement. When she opens it, she's very shocked to see a Shetland Sheepdog puppy with a red ribbon around her neck (A/N: Yes it is a girl :3) "KYA! Oh my goodness, she's so adorable! I love her so much and I'll take great care of her and she'll be my best friend forever! Daddy did you name her? Or are you leaving that to me?" she says with a smile. "Go ahead and choose a name! It's your choice so choose wisely!" I say with a strange tone. "Hm How about... MIKA! Alright then Mika Chan!" she exclaims while smiling with delight. "How about we go get her collar and information imprinted on the tag?" I offer her while taking hold of her hand. "Yeah! Iku yo!" she says while we're already leaving the house already once again. And for the rest of the day, we spend all the time together with each other, and Mika. I can tell that she had a great time today, because even I had a great time. Perhaps more than I have in a very long time!
What other adventures will we encounter together? I have not the slightest idea. But I will look forward to having them with her. The most precious thing in my life; Marielle.
