"Morgan, Morgan? Are you even listening?"" Huh? Sorry what was that?" I was too distracted by the new cashier taking orders. He's a tall faded brunette haired guy with bluish green eyes. Right now I can't seem to keep my eyes off his chiseled jawline.
Jasmine sighs as she takes another sip of her milkshake," You have to help me decide on my wedding dress. You know my weddings coming soon. I'm leaning towards a pale yellow dress, it'll compliment my skin. Don't you think? Or should I get a basic white one?
My eyes still lay on the brunette haired man,I nod my head as if I'm listening.
" Morgan?" Her eyes slowly follow mine taking a glance at the new cashier then they focus back on me," Oh, so that's why you insisted on coming here." She says," you want to admire the new brunette."
" No." My eyes switch back to her," This is our favorite place to eat." I nibble on one of the fries on my plate. " Plus, he's just not my type. ""No," she argues," Its my favorite place to eat. You hate this place. I insisted on going somewhere else but you refused. " She rolls her eyes,"And when did you start having types?"
She's right, I do hate this place. Their food is absolutely not worth the price. But of course, Jasmine does not agree.
And,
I really don't have a type.
In high school, I flirted with every guy making them all fall for me. I dated complete nerds just to help me with my math homework. They all fell for me in such a short period of time.
College was even better.
I flirted with athletes just to have quick little make out sessions before classes. My best friend since preschool witnessed it all, Jasmine. In the end she became the lucky one with the engagement ring.
I take another look at Jasmine, her dark skin glows as she takes another sip of her milkshake. " As I was saying," she starts," we're thinking of doing a classic Igbo reception after the wedding. What do you think?"
Jasmines Fiancé proposed to her the day we graduated college . They met in high school, Jasmine was a Freshman and he was a Junior. her boyfriend, Chinonso, is Nigerian, and Jasmine is an American with African decent." That's fine," I say while trying to focus all my attention on her. I push my straight black hair behind my ear.
She sighs," I feel like you're not listening,"
Honestly I am listening, there is just a distraction in the building right now.
" No, I am," I say," you want to have a cultural wedding right?
" No," she says," a cultural wedding reception. Just focus one hundred percent of your attention on me for a second. "" Sorry Jas." I say as she keeps her eyes on me.
She sighs," Just focus all your attention on me for a few minutes."
I nod in response.
We talk for a few more minutes before I get up for water." Where are you going? " Jas asks as I stand up.
" I'm going to ask for water. I mean it's free right?" I say.She laughs," You must be thirsty," then winks at me.
I roll my eyes," Try again Jas. I'm going to work some magic."
She laughs and laughs as I walk up to the brunette at the register.
