It was finally the weekend. Adam and I stayed up late on Friday, then slept in on Saturday morning. It was the afternoon, and Adam and I walked to a field. It was about a twenty five minute walk, but we stopped and got iced coffee first. When we got to the hill, I picked a pink flower from the grass and handed it to Adam with a cheeky smile. He smiled back and took it. He ripped the stem in half, then stuck it in my hair.
"Valery." Adam mumbled and he shifted a bit awkwardly.
I looked up at him and smiled. The sunlight played upon his hair quite well. His grey eyes gleamed, looking slightly hazel from an angle. "Yes." I respond.
"We've only known each other about four days...but I'm starting to grow feelings for you..."
I smiled. "Me too."
He took my hand and smiled. "So then...it wouldn't be weird for me to ask...Valery...would you be mine?"
I had never been in a relationship before. I was a little bit scared, but I didn't want to blow this chance with Adam. So I said, "yes, Adam." I embraced him, then held him there for a couple more seconds.
He laid on the hill and put his hands behind his head. "Ugh, I can't help but think of the V in your name, and not think of V For Vendetta."
I turn and look at him. "The movie?"
He nods.
"I didn't find it so great. It bored me a bit."
Adam chuckled. "Same. It's too bad. I still want a mask though."
I laughed. "It'd definitely suit you." I said with a grin.
Adam smiled at me. I don't think I ever saw him smile like that ever again. I loved how genuine it was, but there really wasn't a reason to look that happy. It didn't occur to me how much Adam wanted to be with me.
***October of That Year.***
"Halloween is in two weeks! And we still don't have costumes!" Adam yelled to me in a panicked voice from the closet. I laid in bed, staring at the top bunk, and smiled.
"Two weeks. We can get ours on the week before."
"No we can't!" Adam said as he bumped into the closet door.
"Yes! We can! Don't worry!"
"No!"
I looked at him funny. Why was he so determined to get one now? Maybe he was just really dedicated to Halloween. I don't even know. "Why?"
"We...we just can't!"
"Ok! We can go get one now!" I agreed and got up.

"I already know what I want." Adam said. He went ahead of me, and searched aggressively for the costume he wanted.
I'm different. I don't like to rush. I like to be smart with the stuff I dress up as. A lot of people have seen my red hair, and will tell me that I should dress up as The Little Mermaid. I've been told that by at least one person every year. I wasn't gonna dress up as her...for the millionth time. I'd always wanted to be a rag-doll, but the rag-doll costumes were never good. I was getting tired if wanting to be a rag-doll. I wanted to be something that you couldn't find in a costume store. I walked around to look for Adam, deciding that I would come up with something on my own, until I bumped into a worker.
"Oh, I'm sorry. Can I help you?" She asked.
"Oh, no...I'm ok." I smiled at her slightly and she looked me up and down.
"You have a nice body."
I felt complimented, but somewhat violated, since no one-not even Adam, for the five months we'd been together-has complimented me on my body. So I just said, "um, thanks."
