The crowd watched from the edges of their seats as the young man grabbed the door handle. Never before had the arena been this quiet. At that moment everyone was anxious except the man who was facing trial. He took a few breaths and looked at the crowd one last time. He then whipped the door open and instantly met eyes with the beautiful and majestic maiden that walked out the door. The smell of perfume blasted his face and the screams of men and women had entered his ears. The wedding bell rang and the priest walked in. The young man embraced his new fiancè, kissed her on the lips, and carried her in his ripped and muscular arms. The blush on the woman's face and smile on the man taunted the princess and pleased the crowd. They spun around in joy as trumpets played and the spectators cheered. Everyone had a smile on their face except the princess and the king. The princess sat still as her eyes lay frozen on the man she loved. She felt nothing yet every emotion rushed through her body. A tear ran down her cheek. A tear became 2 tears. 2 tears became 4 and 4 became many. She could hold it back no longer. She sniffled and cried in her seat as she watched the man she loved so dearly embrace another woman. "Dearest daughter, wipe your tears. You lost someone that may have never loved you, but he lost someone who loved him," said the king.
3 weeks after the event, the princess received a letter from her former lover. She took it high in her tower and began to read, "Dear princess, I am eternally grateful for what you have done for me. This is a debt I might never be able to repay. I thank you from the bottom of my heart and soul. The true intention of this letter is to confess to you. You see, I had already been planning to split with you. The woman you saw me marry was my childhood friend. I hadn't seen her in forever and I had to speak to her. Even if it was just a small conversation, I thought I would be satisfied. I wasn't. The moment I looked I saw her face to face, I had fallen in love with her. I tried to deny my feelings but I couldn't. I had stressed for many nights, debating with myself. Finally I came to a conclusion. I would rather follow my heart and remain truthfull to you, than stay with you and lie to you. You deserve the truth and you deserve someone better. But at the same time, I couldn't just leave you. You are royalty and it is an insult for the dirty poor like me to leave someone like you. So I intentionally revealed our relationship for me to put on trial. I wanted to give you the option of how we would part. I knew you would know which door was which and I knew you would answer if asked. So please do not blame your father for such an outcome. Sometimes I wish it had never gone this way. Starting from now you and I are just citizen and ruler. Once again, thank you for you kindess. Sincerely, your former lover."
