"So, I'm Harry. And you?" he asked me. The way he spoke enthralled me; He savored each word, almost tasting each to see if it was perfect enough to let it go. His faded green eyes focused on my dark brown ones.

"Kipperly," I replied, cringing internally at my awkward name.

"Cool name," he stated simply before bending down to dig through his bag.

I watched down as a tall man who I had previously overlooked called for attention. "Well, welcome to LMU, freshmen!" Everyone cheered as there was loud noise. I remained motionless. "I'm Professor Miller."

He started our english class, going over many important things about campus with us and reviewing the syllabus. In an hour or so, he had begun class. "This class is unlike anything in high school," he said to us all. "We will learn about things in the world that will give you a whole new understanding in life." I heard Harry let out a silent sigh of boredom.

He began class by discussing playwrights. I found myself quite interested in them. The way Miller had provided background information was much more intriguing than I imagined it would be. "We will be taking a great deal of a look into Shakespeare," he said. "I know, I know, cheesy. But he is more than meets the eye." I found myself liking Miller.

"Alright, your assignment for tonight is to write about something that happened in your life that made you realize something. It's pretty open-ended. Yep, take a walk on memory lane guys, back to your high school first-day-of-school assignments!" Yay, another time to make up something about that one time I witnessed someone getting bullied or something.

The students filtered out of the classroom. I caught sight of Harry before walking out. I began walking towards my dorm building. My next class was at 1:15 and it was noon, and I decided on making myself lunch before heading out again.

"Hey!" My roommate, Sophia, said to me as I walked into the room. I smiled back before opening the fridge to make myself a sandwich. I grinned, noticing how she had separated the meat products entirely from the vegetables, appreciating the fact that she respected my vegetarianism.

"Thanks," I gestured towards the fridge while looking over at her.

"Yeah, no problem. You know I've always wanted to be a vegetarian, but it's just... bacon. I could never give that up."

I smiled, remembering that we had had this exact conversation when I had first moved in but dismissing it because it was Sophia and she had a tendency to do that.

I knew we weren't going to be the sister soul mate kind of best friends, but we got along and she was someone I could talk to, which was enough for me. Honestly, she was the first person I had truly smiled at in years. Other than my interviewer from the restaurant that I applied for a job for a waitress at. Because I'm pretty sure a depressed un-smiling freak isn't high on a business's priorities of waitresses to hire.

She made herself something to eat, and sat down on her bed. We learned more about each other; sadly, I wasn't in any of her classes.

I left for the second half of my day with the tiniest buzz of excitement. Maybe I can make it.
