you are not ugly

you're a masterpiece

your warts and moles

are knots in an ancient tree

that stands tall and strong

above all else

your freckles are stars

that dot the night sky

and create constellations

across your face

and over the bridge of your nose

your heart

that lays vulnerable on your sleeve

is cut into your bark

created by two teens

who's initials will shout out

their love forever

your smile is my sun

brightening my day

blinding me

until all I can see

is your beauty

your eyes, the moon

quite, thoughtful, and pale

reflecting your moods

and showing me your soul.

I'm appalled that you believe

you are less than perfect

all your differences

are creating a signature

at the bottom right

of your canvas

you're flaws and imperfections

are what make you beautiful

you were made from stardust

and you are built from this earth

you will not leave it that easily
