The sun had begun to fall from the sky as the day came to an end. The clouds painted the sky with vibrant, bright colors and it had gotten colder. The stars that hid in the sun's light during the day were becoming more visible and the moon was awaiting its turn to shine brightly in the night sky.
It was almost time for supper as Y/N arrived home. She dragged her backpack along the ground, which collected snow, and was walking slumped over and zombie like. She threw her backpack onto the porch carelessly then entered the two story house.
She immediately felt the warmth of the house when she took a step in. She shut the door then began to take off her coat. As she undressed, a young lady stepped into the walkway and leaned against the doorframe.
"What do you want?" Y/N asked with a cavalier attitude.
The young lady showed a strong resemblance to Y/N. With e/c eyes, long h/c hair that was pinned up in a bun and glowing skin, the girl looked almost flawless, but that is practically impossible. She also wore glasses along with a pair of sweatpants and a loose fitting t-shirt.
The young lady was Y/N's 17 year old sister. The girl who took care of Y/N alongside her elderly grandmother. Elaine.
Elaine rolled her eyes, then crossed her arms in front of her. "Welcome home, little sis. Grandma is out grocery shopping right now, so don't expect dinner to be early tonight."
Shock suddenly spread across Y/N's face. "How long has she been gone? It's almost dark outside! Why didn't you go with her?"
Y/N hurriedly began to put back on her coat, scarf, and boots. Her grandmother was almost 64 years old and was not to be trusted alone. Y/N almost fell over trying to get out of the door as quickly as she could, but Elaine grabbed her by the hood on her coat and pulled her back inside.
"Where do you think you're going, idiot!? She'll be fine. Mom went with her."
Y/N stopped panicking then turned to Elaine wide-eyed. Fear had quickly replaced the worry on her face. She yanked her way out of Elaine's grip, but also fell over in the process.
"Mom's here?!"
Elaine nodded, then watched as Y/N rose to her feet and made her way past her in a hurry. She climbed the stairs with swiftness and when she finally made it to her room, she shut the door so loudly it shook the window that was across the hall.
She locked her door, pulled out a small chair to put up against the door. Elaine banged on the door and yelled her name while Y/N backed onto her bed and hid beneath her sheets.
"Y/N!! You can't keep doing this everytime Mom comes over!! What the hell is wrong with you?! Open the door so we can talk!!"
The door knob turned and rattled on Y/N's side of the door, then eventually, out of anger, Elaine started to kick at the door until the sole of her foot began to turn red. Her efforts to open the door helped her to no avail.
Y/N only gripped the sheets tighter and flinched at every kick made to the door. When she noticed Elaine had stopped, she uncovered her head and kept an eye on the door.
"Fine then!!! Have it your way!!! You'll starve up here until you open your damn door!!!" She yelled at the top of her lungs.
Elaine kicked at the door once again as hard as she could before she decided to walk off. She managed to leave a fee dents in the door, but was unable to do much damage because she didn't have on any shoes.
"I don't— I don't want to see her." Y/N whispered.
By the time Elaine had made it down the stairs, her anger had went away. She went into the kitchen and took a seat at the table, then started to lean back in the chair steadily.
